So quick question. My counselor stated that for eligibility, the 8 semester thing goes in effect, but when LA considers us for admission, they will weigh more classes. In my case, i took 7 classes that can be weighed for 10-11, only 5 of which are "UC Approved" to weight, and he said LA would weight all 5, not stop at 4.

you get 8 semesters of honors pts. Thus, if you took 5 2-semester "UC approved" courses over your tenth and eleventh grades, you will only get an extra point for EIGHT semesters (four classes).

*btw, this policy really SUCKS but its the way it is.

yeah its unfortunate. Id have 6 more points hahaha. But i thikn its the UC's way of stopping appliants from getting straight b's and take all ap/honors classes.

hmm, well that was my question, the difference between ELIGIBILITY and actual review, because it makes sense to be eligible "UC GPA" to count 4 , but i was thinking they may count more when reviewing, according to my counselor...and it kind of makes sense when you see how high the "average" is, if they weighed more.

ive heard of that actually but its not something to depend on. LA and Cal post stats of their weighted gpa acceptance percantages and so what (i.e. 4.0 w and above 51 percent to make it, 3.7-3.99 11 percent to make it) and adding ALL weigthed points would screw those results and really it would make the weighted average higher since u have pyschos with like 4.5's. I'm sure they will look at thte rigor of ur schedule and that will be taken in account for but dont wish for something wihtout realizing the drawbacks

i hope you do too : ). hopefully your sat 2's were solid though. I heard if u are in the 2nd grouping your sat 2's had to be high or your sat 1 had to be 21+
