What counts as early admissions?

Hi,

I am currently a high school senior looking to apply to Harvard for its SCEA option. I realize that it does not allow for other early admissions applications to other colleges. I have been receiving emails from several state schools detailing that I can apply with their “_____” admissions and receive a prompt decision and more FA. I wasn’t not sure if these special admissions processes would count as early admissions and thus violate the SCEA contract?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Generally speaking, early applications at state Us are not counted as violating SCEA or Early Decision contracts because those institutions offer everyone rolling admissions.

@happymomof1 Thanks for the prompt response! I’m happy to hear that this is the case.

I did a bit of my own research on the Harvard site and found:

"If I apply restrictive early action to Harvard, may I apply to another private college’s early action program (restrictive or not)?

No. However, you may apply Early Action to any public college/university or to foreign universities."

This seems to affirm what you mentioned. Thanks again!
