What do colleges exactly check during your senior year?...grades of course...but...

Do they check whether you have Cs, Ds, or Fs specifically, OR do they check whether or not and how much you've strayed from your GPA?.. For example, if you have a 4.5 GPA average sophomore and junior year, then suddenly it drops to let's say, 3.0 cumulative average senior year, will your admission be revoked? I'm talking about all the top colleges (HYPMS, U of C, other Ivyies, NYU, etc)

bumpity bump

Dropping to a 3.0 for that semester or for a 3.0 over your entire high school career? For the first, it's not that big a deal, but for the second...you'd have to fail pretty badly to drop a 4.5 to a 3.0, in which case your admission will probably get revoked.

It's mathematically impossible to drop from a 4.5 to a 3.0, cumulative, after 3 years. The next best thing would be something like a 3.4 (depending on how your school does GPA) cumulative, which means a 0.0 for senior year.

Um anyway. If you drop to straight B's senior year they're not going to care. Perhaps if you get a C they'll let it go. I wouldn't advise dropping further than that. In fact, it shouldn't be that hard to get at least straight B's if you've gotten straight A's so far anyway...

If you have a 4.5 and then you get a 3.0 senior year first semester (or an otherwise significant drop), assuming this is RD, that is a huge red flag and it's very possible for them to reject you when they would have otherwise accepted you.

Second semester...not that important unless you get a bunch of C's or some D's or any F's. Then getting your admission rescinded is possible.

So basically, 1st term senior yr = as important as junior yr grades...

terms 2, 3, and 4 = Bs are okay....

Well ty; that's just so awesome :) :) :) you just made my day cause I honestly will not get an A in French 4 or AP English Lit (Our Eng. Lit. teacher practically NEVER gives out As.... yeah...)

1 semester = 2 terms. So 1st AND 2nd term senior year grades are as important as junior year; the second half of the year - terms 3 and 4 - are ok.
