What do colleges see for your senior year?

They get your first two report cards? Do they weigh these heavily? How will they react when they see Honor Roll? What else they see?

They'll see your courses for senior year, as well as your first quarter/semester marks (depending on whether you're applying ED/EA or RD)

I'm guesing junior year marks are weighted more heavily, simply because they don't have much to work with for senior year. Don't slack off in grade 12 though.

Honor roll, especially at competitive schools where nearly all applicants will be on the honor roll, probably isn't that important. It won't make you stand out at any rate.

If you apply ED or EA or rolling, they may not see any grades at all for senior year. In that case, it is pretty much game over grade wise junior year. The colleges will only see what courses a student is taking for senior year. If accepted early, all the college wants is the end of year transcript which may just show the final year grades. Different schools do have different ways they present their transcripts to colleges. EVERY student should ask to see exactly what is being sent to the colleges so that it can be double checked for accuracy, and so the student knows exactly what the adcom is going to see. The schools my kids attended only showed year end grades for highschool. No exams, no semesters, no quarters. Just a single grade per course.

If you are not deferred for early rounds and for regular admissions, colleges want the mid year grade. There may be some flexibility in this regard. I know that my sons' schools would send out first quarter grades upon request for early rounds. Some kids find that an advantage if it shows a good upward trend or high performance in difficult courses.

I plan to try really hard in 12th

They saw my 79 first two terms in AP Chem. =]
