What do Columbia students think of NYU students?

Just for fun :)

What’s the difference between a kid that goes to Columbia and the kid that goes to NYU? The Columbia kid got into NYU.

LOOOOL
It’s funny cuz it’s true :)

Columbia is Ivy League, NYU is just a tiny D-III school without a legitimate campus…

'nuf said.

As a university, meaning on the whole, there’s a lot of impressive things about NYU. The Tisch school and their T-14 law school being just two. As for the students? I certainly don’t have a negative opinion of them.

NYU people seem to think Columbia and NYU are rivals.
Columbia students simply know our school is far superior.

columbia kids don’t really think too long about NYU kids. NYU is considered a good school. Some of the NYU kids I’ve met seem to have a chip on their shoulder and are always citing ways that they are better than Columbia.

less prestige oriented: NYU kids are probably more “new york” than columbia students (like hipster, artsy, cliquey, independent, gay) and less intense about academics and ambition.

One of my best friends is an nyu student whom I randomly met only in college, no chip on his shoulder, we talk a lot about our schools, there’s a lot of good things to be said either way. In general there’s no real rivalry, or bad blood and actually a lot of collaboration between professors and academic departments.

Haha, IndianOptimist. I got into NYU also so I had a nice laugh:)

I personally don’t have any problems with NYU. One of my really good friends will be attending NYU in the fall and he’s definitely got a good head on his shoulders. I mean both schools are in Manhattan and both shine in prestige (although one more than the other). I have no problem unless they constantly are on the defensive over which school is better.

columbia kids tend to have chips on their shoulders where they feel an empty sense of entitlement because of the school the attend/got into to.

come on guys, this is plain embarrassing. although it seems a lot of these sentiments stem from kids who don’t even attend yet.

Relax, it’s just for laughs no big deal. Columbia’s an Ivy League with top tier Law and Business programs, NYU’s got the best Arts (Tisch) school and best Applied Math (Tourant Institute). We’re just doing this as a joke - no need to get uptight. We know the pros and cons.

ha… ha? this horse was beaten dead well before you or i ever attended.

you’d think people are all joking, but there’s a surprisingly large number of kids who do come to believe that NYU kids are bound to bag their groceries. all in all it just comes off as immaturity that only runs 1 way…

Don’t you watch Gossip Girl, OP?

“NYU is nothing more than a glorified state school.” =p

lol seriously nyu has nothing on columbia

There’s one big difference: Columbians are intellectually pretentious, while NYU students are un-intellectually pretentious. New School students, for the record, are anti-intellectually pretentious.

NYU was my safety school

Pretentiousness sucks balls. Let’s just ditch it altogether.

I’m with you, ComaPrison. Let’s be the change.

Columbia is far better than NYU in terms of undergrad edu.

Next time, try not to recycle old material:
