I'm very interested in Clemson, but the OOS tuition basically makes it the same as going to a private. I know Clemson is fairly generous with the OOS waivers. what is the basic requirement for the waiver? I have fairly strong ACT (31 right now, will be retaking) and am waiting for my SAT back. anybody with experiences care to comment?

Look on other posts here under Clemson and look for Steviesteve007. He is out of state from GA whose sister is at Clemson. He knows exactly what it takes to get an OOS waiver. We're in state, so don't know exactly the criteria.

My son will be attending Clemson this fall. He received two small recruiting scholarships worth $1500 per year and because of that he is also receiving a waiver of the OOS tuition differential (worth a little over $10,000 per year. Just keep an eye on the deadlines for admission. I think the deadline to be considered for scholarships is Dec 31st. I would recommend sending in earlier, if possible. If your grades are comparable to your ACT, you will probably get the OOS waiver.

1480 sat or 2180 total I think have not looked in a while. The package was oos and ~2750 per semester renewable for 4 years.

GPS is 3.87 or 93.7 and class rank is 58 out of 740. Top two people both accepted to MIT. Hard school

Was not referred for honors so am going to GaTech. Would have liked to go to clemson, my sister grads from there on the 11th, but Tech is free for me with the ga Hope and other $ I have won.

Clemson has more girls and is more of a traditional school and i think I would have been happy there but if they really wanted to recruit me they should have offered honors.

Bottom line is it looks like 1300 or 1350 on the old SAT is the floor for OOS with the requirment that you apply early...I did....in oct and I got my FASA in in Jan. Early application is the real key to getting the offer I think.

thanks stevie, i'm probably in the same boat as you. my GPA is a 95.88 as of right now (5th semester transcript) and 1380/1990 with a 31 ACT (both to be retaken), my rank however, kills me. there are 580 in my class and its insanely competitive. school sends 99% to college, probably 85% or so to a 4-year college. However, just about everybody has some fantasy with UT and how think it's just super. Whatever.
