What do people usually do with Visual art - media major?

I’m pretty interested in media, making vids and editing , and photography. I plan to switch my major to visual art but what can one do with the media major? like how does one get a job? and what kinds of job do people get ? thanks in advance (:

See the reported outcomes of people who graduated with this at http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Degree=Bachelor_of_Arts_%28BA%29%2c_Media_Arts/Salary and http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Degree=Bachelor_of_Arts_%28BA%29%2c_Visual_Arts_%28VA%29/Salary and at the web address achieved by putting after Students Review dot com “/contact_center.php3?searchpid=46”. (This website won’t let me put the web address.) Note that the last of these shows four out of the 26 surveyed earning essentially nothing.

welp that’s depressing

On the lighter side, keep in mind that a narrow group of people are normally interviewed in those types of surveys. My oldest daughter is a successful painter, and she has never been part of a survey. Then again, she doesn’t have a college degree. She has also been hired for her photography although it is not her main field. She is hiring her youngest sister and a friend to help her create her first DVD for sale, which will entail video, animation, music and editing. My painter daughter does not want to hire someone with a degree in that field; she wants to hire people she can trust and who are extremely talented in their various fields: musicians, photographers, comedians, etc. My point is that there is a lot of work in this field IF you are yourself creative and talented (meaning extremely hard working) and have friends who are the same.
