What do you guys think are my chances?

Can someone give an opinion on how this would look to UCs and private universities?

Art 1

Junior:
Honors English 11
US History
AP Calculus AB (Score of 5)
AP Biology (Score of 3)
AP Spanish (Score of 4)

Senior (Current) -

(Biotech also if available)

I'm a straight A student, with a GPA above 4.0 weighted, who has been actively involved in a national volunteer affiliated club (officer for 2 years out of 3 years including my senior year) and in a dance club/team (officer/choreographer for 2 years out of 3 years including my senior year). Last time I checked, I'm in the top 10 out of about 500 students in my grade. I'm also a high school tutor, and I'm about to start a new job.

My first SAT score was an 1830; however, I am retaking it and I'm also taking the ACT. I took the SAT subject test for Biology and received a 690 and a 700 on Math 2.

I'm planning on majoring in biology (or a branch of it) and minoring in Spanish, or double majoring in both. Right now, I plan on doing the premed pathway.

Some universities I had in mind were: University of Pennsylvania, UCSD, UC Irvine, UC Davis, and maybe even UCLA and UC Berkeley.

Either way, I'll probably still be applying to most of these universities because you never know until you try, but I just wanted other people's opinions. Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Is that the most rigorous schedule your school offers? The EC’s are alright/slightly above average, the grades are ok, but you’ll need to improve your test scores. The 700 in Math II puts you in the 66th percentile, and the 1830 SAT is weak for Penn, Berkeley, and (sort of) UCLA. You never mentioned your UW GPA, but said you were a straight A student, so assuming a 4.0 UW GPA,

University of Pennsylvania: high reach
UC Berkeley: reach
UCLA: high match/low reach

Best of luck on improving the scores!

I agree.

However, with your ECs and current SAT and SAT II scores, I think these chances are more realistic:
-UPenn: out of reach
-Berkeley: high reach
-UCLA: low reach
-UCSD: high match
-UC Irvine: mid match
-UC Davis: low match

Good luck! :)

Well thank you for being honest! What SAT scores would be more ideal for these colleges? I’m definitely retaking the SAT’s, but I’m not sure if I will for SAT Subject Tests, depending on time. Do you have any tips also?

I agree with the above posts. For Penn you would want about 2200 on the SAT to be competitive. 2100 would still put you in their range though. I would say around 2000-2100 range for Berkley and UCLA. You can look up all of the schools stats on the college board website. Good luck!
