<p>FYI, I got into UCLA and Cal after getting B in Calc I (Prereq for Econ and BizEcon). My GPA was 3.85. Not meant to be a brag or anything. Just trying to tell you that just because you get a B in one prereq course doesn't mean your chance is totally blown away. Plus you have a higher GPA than me. True, B in Calc II will mean your first B, but that's just one B and it wouldn't be constituted as the UC's definition of "downward" trend. Just make sure you try your best and try to get an A on all the other classes, and even if you get a B in Calc II, don't stress over it. You have good work hours and have shown responsibility toward your family. All that will be explained in your essay, I assume, and UCs will consider it. </p>
