What do you like about Hopkins?

Current students, what things have been your favorite at JHU?

May I suggest you check out the Hopkins Forums for perspectives from over 20 current students. Specifically, these discussion threads should answer your question:

Hopkins Forums -> Why I Chose To Attend Hopkins?
Hopkins Forums -> Of All The Things You've Learned ...
Hopkins Forums -> Game: 1,000 Reasons Why I Chose to Come to Hopkins
Hopkins Forums -> First Day At Hopkins
Hopkins Forums -> Are you happy with your choice to attend JHU?

Thank you, those are awesome! Random question: how much does it snow here? haha

It depends on who you ask and where they grew up ... someone from TX or CA might say it snows a lot, whereas someone from New England or the Midwest would laugh at our snow levels.

Here is a variety of opinions on the weather in Baltimore from current students:
Hopkins Forums -> Weather questions

(Those Hopkins Forums can be really helpful -- tons of information.)

Thank you! I'm from the North, and would just terribly miss snow if I attended there! Needed to know what you get!

We had a snow day my freshman year.

How often does it snow, would you say? How much do you usually get?

It's really hard to predict. I will say the last few years we've gotten 2 or 3 snow storms with a total accumulation of less than 4 inches each. On the other hand I've seen 30" drop by Thanksgiving. That was a long time ago. It can get cold but usually not until January, with February the coldest month. When it does snow it's usually late January through early March. We do get some nasty ice storms too.

Thank you! Another random question: where can I run? I like to run for fun, but I hate being confined to a treadmill. Are there any neat paths or routes, or am I stuck with the streets of Baltimore?

Once again, you should spend some time checking out the Hopkins Forums as answers to your questions are already there:

Hopkins Forums -> Good Places to Workout/Run

Hopkins' campus is essentially a park so you can really run wherever you want and you'll get a good workout. On the snow question, last year, snow was nothing spectacular. No storms or anything that completely shut down Baltimore streets but we got 2-3 inches. I'm from NY and I would say the snow levels are comparable.

OK, that line doesn't work for me. You have to narrow down where in NY you are from to really compare snowfall levels. There is a huge difference between someone from Long Island, NYC, Westchester ... and someone from Buffalo, Syracuse, Oneonta, etc. 2-3 inches in upstate NY is a dusting whereas down state that amount of snow may cripple some areas.

Okay, then I'll clarify it. I am from LI.
