What do you love about NYU (BESIDES the city)?

When I ask what people love about NYU, everyone says "the city".

I get that it's amazing, but what are some other things--as random or small as you like :)--that make you LOVE the SCHOOL, not just the city?

the people. i’m very involved in student activities and the different kinds of people i’ve met really make me happy i transferred here. there is no one type of student here. i have friends that are the suit-wearing Sternie type and i have friends who are American Apparel/ray bans/hip hop Steinhardt kids. there are people who are passionate about saving the world, people chasing their dream to make it to Broadway and even who wants to be the editor of the next big fashion magazine. my other school was very blah and very one-dimensional. the variety of opportunities here brings together a unique mix of people.

i also LOVE the fact that we have awesome dining hall food. i know that’s very random and nerdy. but on one meal plan, you can have indian food, vegan food, burgers, Quiznos, the only chick-fil-a in NYC or even Starbucks!

i also love that we have a fictional football team. i gave NYU Football shirts to all the scrawny guys i know. :D

thanks for the insight missamericanpie:)
since my parents have deemed it unnecessary for me to attend the upcoming “Saturday in the Square” for newly accepted students, it’s really important for me to get as much of a sense as I can of what is near and dear to students’ hearts at NYU.

Anyone else? Even the most seemingly trivial details would be appreciated!

I really like NYU’s diversity. Over 70% of the school is from outside the tri-state area, 10% is international, and less than 10% are actually from NYC. To meet people coming from all these different areas just broadens your mind so much more you know?

haha missamericanpie, what school did you transfer from? Stony?

a CUNY. one of the outer borough ones. ugh. fake italians, fake tans and everyone is a teacher or a nurse. it sucked for a media/pol girl like me.

Sounds like Staten Island? haha well at least that’s all in the past now. :)
