I am a Junior at a high school in WA state. I have taken honors classes whenever possible as a freshman and sophomore. This year I’m doing a program where I take classes at the community college and get both high school and college credit for them. This way I take more classes and take harder classes.

I took the SAT and ACT last spring, as a sophomore. I’m going to take them again this spring but my scores then were SAT MATH: 660 READING: 680 WRITING:780 and a 34 on the ACT.

I got a 217 on the PSAT last fall, with an 80 in math. My extracurriculars are weak, but I’m working on them. I’ve been a member of a church youth group for 4 years and am applying for a leadership position this spring. I’m in NHS. I’ve been in Debate but never been able to go to the tournaments. This summer I might be going to Stanford for their summer EPGY, and maybe Jamaica on a work trip if I can get the fundraising.

I plan to major in neuroscience, and visit Bowdoin in about 2 months. What do you think? any advice?

Oh and my gpa through freshman and sophomore years was 4.0, and a 3.77 last quarter from the community college.

yours stats is good to me. Your ACT is really ok (esp to me:D:D). 34 is in the range of Bowdoin.

Hey! I live in Seattle and I'm going to Bowdoin in the fall, I was accepted EDI. You must be in running start, right? Your stats look great, Bowdoin, as well as most colleges, appreciates a student who is passionate about something. So my advice to you would be to do all you can to show Bowdoin you are interested and show them what you are passionate about. Good luck!

Okay great. I'm really in love with this college so far.

Yes Isabelle I am in Running Start.

My biggest concern is that I haven't been totally active in clubs and sports until now, and my GPA since I've been in Running Start has been falling. Last quarter it was 3.77, and I think I'll pobably be between a 3.5 and 3.8 for this quarter. I had a 4.0 through sophomore and freshman year, though. Do you think my GPA will be a big problem?

I wouldn't say your gpa would be a huge problem. I suppose telling you that a 3.8 is certainly a lot better than a 3.5 is futile, but i told you anyways. Definetly send your ACT score, i got in with a lower ACT score than you have, so you're good on that frount
