What does it take to get into Tulane?

So Tulane is my dream school. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get in. I am a high school sophmore from Louisiana. I see a lot of people that get accepted take multiple AP classes. My school is small so we don’t have hardly any AP classes available to take. Has anyone from Louisiana gotten guaranteed admission? Also does TOPS Honors cover full tuition to Tulane?

Lots of Louisiana residents have gotten into Tulane via their guaranteed admissions program for said residents. http://admission.tulane.edu/apply/now/louisiana.php

The highlights:

In order to qualify for guaranteed admission, applicants must apply Early Action or Early Decision by November 15th (November 1st for Early Decision) and:

[]Reside in Louisiana
[]Attend or have graduated from a Louisiana high school at the time of application
[]Achieve a 28+ on the ACT Composite or 1870+ on the SAT Combined
[]Have a 3.5+ cumulative GPA (unweighted, 4.00 scale) at the time of application in English, foreign language, science, social science, and college preparatory mathematics courses taken while in high school
[]Complete 4 years of English, 3 years of social sciences, 3 years of lab science, 3 years of mathematics, and 2 years of foreign language
[]Have no prior college attendance after high school graduation
[li]Have no suspensions, expulsions, or disciplinary violations[/li][/ul]
Louisiana Guaranteed Admission applies to Early Action and (Early Decision) decisions only. No students will be eligible for guaranteed admission when reviewed in the Regular Decision round.

I think they might have forgotten to update the SAT combined, now that the test has changed. I will contact admissions and ask. They did forget to update the text at the very bottom. It still had Single Choice Early Action where I put Early Decision in parentheses. SCEA no longer exists as of this fall, just EA and ED.

As far as TOPS, that has been undergoing some changes because of the budget woes in Louisiana. Who knows what it will be by the time you graduate high school. Tulane so far has been committed to making up as much of the shortfall from the state as possible, but clearly that can’t be a guaranteed thing going forward. And while I strongly suspect the same will be true regarding the Guaranteed Admissions program, no one can be 100% sure of the future. But if I were you, I would be comfortable with those parameters and just keep your eye on the situation.
