What does the admissions committee do the week before M10?

Just wondering if anyone knows…

Get ready for the next week I imagine. They are about to be flooded with unhappy kids and parents, as well as ecstatic kids and parents asking questions that range from easy to answer to very difficult.

That is just a guess, but really at this point the work is done for admission and not yet started for enrollment.

Print letters, address envelopes, refine videos–contine to tweak FA information …the decisions are made

And probably pop a beer (though not at work)

Yeah I think they just finish up the housekeeping part of applications

Actually some schools have committee deliberations until a few days before M10 (especially those that electronically deliver the news).

Preparing for spring break vacation?

Getting ready to take the phone off the hook on March 10. You think I’m kidding…

Honestly, I’m not sure. My guidance counselor told one of my teachers that one of the schools I applied to called her office to ask some additional questions around March 3rd. I think each school does different work with admissions pre-M10.

yeah it probably varies based on how much applicants there were, too, or how much work they had to do

For most schools the decisions have been made: the activities now focus on FA awards relative to student desirability and waitlists

How many of them are placing bets on stats? Like percentages of those accepted that accept the acceptance? Lol. Most likely candidate to confirm first? Most likely to call and complain? Most likely to…fill in the blank… or maybe they place bets amongst other schools…who’ll fill slots first, who’ll go deepest in their wait list…you know, making it interesting. I’m sure each school has little traditions/rituals they do, but this is definitely an interesting question!

this is a very good question. I’m guessing they’re busy with feeding the rejected files into their paper shredder lol
