SoCalGal09 and bmwguy im at the same thing; I have comparable stats/rank/gpa etc. but I am stuck at 1/24 w/o Oasis Link.

waits.....

I called today to see if they had gotten all my letters of recommendations and the woman I spoke to on the phone told me that they haven't even begun the second stage of the reviewing process. This means that if you weren't part of that top tier group that has already heard back, or the small group of people who are still going to receive scholarships, you probably won't be hearing back for a while.

I asked her about sending in my first semester grades and she said it's a good idea, even though she could see that I have "very good grades." Since I know she doesn't have my transcript in front of her on the computer, I'm sure she was looking at what ever category they placed me in academically. In case anybody is wondering whether they fall into that category as well, I have about 3.78 unweighted, and am ranked about 30/590 with my weighted. She made me feel fairly optimistic with that comment.

So basically, my point is that some of you may still be receiving scholarships, and for those of you who don't expect to, like me, I don't imagine we'll hear back for a month or so.

The woman also told me that they had a 3% increase in applicants this year, but I'm sure most of you already know that. Best of luck to us all.

Yeah Taxi, I don't expect to receive a scholarship but I'd like to hear about my acceptance in February!!!

Taxi1113 when did you submit your application? Before December 1st? Also when was your status last updated? --Just trying to get an idea of how to put this all into perspective

I submitted my application sometime in October so that I could get it over with. My status page was last updated on 1/2/08 I believe, and says they have completed a preliminary review etc... I don't imagine when you submitted your application will have anything to do with how soon you hear back. Anyone who's application still says it's been through preliminary review shouldn't expect to hear back for a month or so.

Status updated 1/28/09

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don't receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

music industry major

can anyone relate?

is anyone else checking this forum way too much, btw? haha

ah yes LincJesser. Every day this week. but to no avail. Hopefully I'll be part of the scholarship this coming week's round

yeah need to disconnect myself from the net... trying to limit checking to once or twice per day....

LincJesser- I figured that there would be another one of those updates today (the waves are done in weeks, meaning that this update is exactly 7 days from the last update) does anyone remember around what time theirs was updated? (I'm east coast btw)... so it should have just been noon. Depending on whether its an auto system or a manual system, several people could be recieving updates sometime tonight. Lets see what happens.

ahh well if they are on their second wave, what does that mean for me because i got mine updated the 21st but havent gotten a link or anything since....

Amy- well in truth, we really have no idea what signaficance any of the updated statuses mean. In fact, they could mean nothing because of madbean's experience last year where their S never got any update and got trustee. It could just be a automatic system that updates a certain number of applicants without taking exception to those that have already been given special treatment for scholarships... or it could be an indicator of some sort. We really have no idea I guess.

I got my undergrad acceptance today

my status update was on 1/27 with the link to Oasis

I only got it today but it was postmarked 1/23

amy: maybe we're going to get in without a scholarship? I imagine it must mean something, but i really don't understand.

For those who have been accepted but haven't posted stats yet:

For posterity's sake, go post your stats on the STATS ONLY thread- even if it is for your son or daughter. Don't worry, we are all anonymous here! If you don't know how to do it, just go to the first post, and copy and paste the template from the gray box. Enter your data on the X's. It's good to preview it first (under "Go Advanced") then press submit.

I'd imagine LincJesser is getting a scholarship with the stats that they posted. Like I said before, anyone who is hoping to get a scholarship should have their status change sometime in the next two or three weeks.

What doesn't make sense to me: some people are being admitted with no scholarship info on the explore usc, yet those with identical stats as trustee and "being reviewed" as of 1/21 haven't received anything. It seems as if the newly updated status people probably have a better chance at getting a letter for presidential or trustee, and maybe the rest of us are out of luck for those.

is it possible to get accepted to the school but not to the major you applied for?

I am wondering the same as princekarim.

I am quite confident in my stats and essays to get into USC, but I applied to SCA, so who knows if I will get into my major program or not. Can I get accepted still to USC? Will they go to my second major choice or give me "undecided"?
