So here's the weirdest thing thus far. From what I've read, I'm pretty sure that everyone is getting access to their oasis accounts with a link from their status update section. However, today I got an email (I didn't realize it was for Oasis until a little while again) about registering for financial aid, etc. I went and checked my status again, and its still stuck on preliminary review 11/24/08 and no link. Has this happened to anyone else?

everyone has access to manage their financial aid application/documents through oasis, "admission and financial aid online services". That's not the link that's being talked about in connection with acceptance/scholarships that pops up on your application status page.

Ya, I got the financial aid e-mail as well. It's completely separate from the application status. They just sent it out to make sure people are registering for financial aid while they still can.

Did anyone get the mail (actual one mailed to your house) about not being considered for Trustee and Presidential and how they are expecting to admit 8400 freshmen?

It also says they have "notified only about 15% of those students..."

I got that piece of mail. 15%... that seemed like alot to me. :T My status is still @ prelim review since 12/10 btw

Is it necessary to apply for finaid forms to be considered for scholarships? Or, you can omit them assuming if you are not eligible for any need-based stuff anyways.

I haven't gotten that letter yet, but then again it takes mail about a week to get to me....

Anyone else get an update today?
Also, on the last go around did people get the oasis link at the same time they got the being reviewed update or did it come later?

I really want to know whether those people who got the "no trustee or presidential" notification mail have been accepted or not..
since i was accepted on 1/28 but haven't got anything regarding scholarship...really anxious..

as far as I know, the people who got the rejection letter for the presidential/trustee scholarship awards haven't been admitted yet.

my status says my application is still being reviewed, and it changed 1/27. but i got my acceptance letter postmarked 1/23, so i don't think the statuses are very accurate...

When was the "no Trustee/Pres" notification postmarked?

I received an urgent e-mail regarding additional financial documents, two days after I had submitted my financial forms (both CSS Profile and FAFSA). As I checked my OASIS, I noticed that my 'Applicant Status Message' finally changed.

"We have completed an initial review of your application and would like to see the results of the first term of your senior year (final, not mid-term marks)."

I submitted my application during the week before Thanksgiving of 2008. Although I'm delighted to have gotten a status change, I'm also worried like everyone else whose USC "fate" hasn't been decided yet.

i received an email recently, but it didnt sound like what people are saying....

"Please be aware that additional information is required in order to process
your 2009-2010 financial aid or loan application." and blah blah blah. no mention of rejection from presidential/trustee whatever.

at this point, im just worried about getting in. im still at preliminary review since 12/10 and im getting quite worried. or have i just not received that email because i am a NMSF (and hopefully NMF....didnt get any rejection letter yet so....)

Does anybody know how many freshmen they have admitted in the past? 8400 seems like more than I thought it would be. If they have only admitted about 15%, there are still like 7,000 more people who will be admitted.

my friends' letters were dated feb. 3rd for the no pres/trustee scholarship letters

in the acceptance packet, it says "Congratulations! You are part of a very select group - the 2600 diverse, talented and highly motivated individuals who will become the USC class of 2013"
so i'm thinking around 2600 students?

You can see the Freshman Profile for Fall 2008 here:
http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/0910/FreshmanProfile2008v3.pdf

35,900 applied; 7875 were admitted; 2,766 matriculated.

So they did bump it up a little bit...

That's great. Better odds for us all.

My S (no word on acceptance, status link still stuck back at preliminary as of Dec. 4) got the email yesterday about financial aid, and we went through the link to sign up and look at his documents. Be aware that they do want a copy of both the parent and student (if applicable) 2008 tax returns faxed out to the financial aid office.

I think the goal is for a class of 2600 freshmen but USC might bump the Spring admits to Fall much later in the process.

Finally!

I was updated today 2/5 to "being reviewed"

I was in "preliminary" since 12/23
