What EC's do UCs like?

I’m currently a California CC student looking to apply next fall and although I’m doing great academically (4.0) I have no ECs. My campus is really dry and I feel like none of the clubs on my campus are all that interesting or really interest me and on top of that its hard to find the time when my course load is heavy.

I was thinking of doing AGS (Honor Society) but it’s hard for me to retain membership because they require you to go to a lot of off-campus events.

Software Engineering Club - I think this is a good one but they honestly don’t do much in the club and I feel like it’s just a waste of time.

What are some things that UCs like to see?

What CC do you attend? As a former AGS member, I would definitely recommend it. It’s a very good environment to learn leadership and get to meet people who can become life long friends. I was a member for 3 semesters total: 1 semester regular and 2 as a cabinet member. I met so many great people who I still hang out with.

Last year the majority of my CC’s student government went to Cal for one major or another. I think of 24 or people, we have like 13 to 15 people accepted to Berkeley. So from my experience Student Government seems to be something the UC Berkeley and the other UC’s like a lot.

@Zer0xfourD I attend RCC. And I’ll try and force myself to make time for the events.

@Orangered123 Hmmm interesting I’ll looking into doing that

@Twenmi how many events are you required to attend to qualify as an active member? At GCC we didn’t force people into attending, but if they wanted the transcript mark they had to get at least 100 points. Events were each 20 points so only 5 would be enough through the whole semester. Meetings were each 10 points. You could also get more points by submitting articles for the newsletter and/or donating toys to our toy runs. I know for a fact it was very easy to get to 100 pts, at least at GCC.
