What exactly is there to do during "welcome week?"
I'm a transfer student, and I have the option of moving in either next week's Monday, or Saturday. I'm afraid that if I go in Monday, I'll have a whole week of sheer boredness, since I don't really know anyone there...there IS the chancellors reception or something, but that would only take up a day...I don't want to bore myself the whole week.
I would love to go there and meet new people, but since I don't live in a dorm, it'll be kind of hard.

Any suggestions?

Well, you could pick up your books, Chill @ a cafe & read. Get used to walking the Campus, etc... BART to SF, lots of Stuff.

Here is the Welcome Week website, there are tons of things going on all week...some are specifically for transfer students, and others are open to all students. http://welcomeweek.berkeley.edu/ww_html/calendar.html

^thanks for the link collegebound, didnt know all that stuff was going on.

argh..now is when i wish i knew someone there !

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm moving up this Friday because I don't want to try settling down while I'm busy taking care of my academic matters. Plus, I get to have some fun (which may become a rarity) joining events and clubs and meeting new people. I'm also not dorming, because I seriously can't take a triple. And I feel too old to dorm anyway.

But going back to the subject, welcome weeks are always the best way to start off your new academic year.

Wow I had no idea so much will be happening during Welcome Week. I just imagined one event per day and that's it.
