Is that good enough, I really want to get into a school in California to be a Computer Science major.
I also live in NY i dont know if that will make it harder on me.

Cal Poly SLO is the toughest of the California State Colleges to get into. The average GPA of the entering class is around 3.5 unweighted, 3.7 weighted.
The average SAT of the entering class is around 594 critical reading, 639 math, and 625 writing.

As tough as this might seem, it is much less competitive than getting into the University of California system. For example, 42% of Cal Poly SLO admitted students were in the top 10% of their class, whereas at UC Riverside (one of the lower UCs), over 94% of those accepted were in the top 10% of their class.

The school is highly focused on the sciences, engineering, mathematics, architecture, business administration, and psychology majors.

Only about 7 percent of students are from out-of-state, so the GPA and SAT scores will have to be slightly higher than the averages given above to be admitted.

3.81 and 1245 (out of 1600) are the SLO averages. Riverside's are 1129 on the old scale and 3.59. It seems that SLO is harder to get in to.

You are right; UCR is MUCH easier to get into than Cal Poly SLO. UCR accepts over 75% of applicants, where as Cal Poly SLO accepts only around 45%.

Cal Poly SLO - for engineering is comparable to UCSB, UCI, & UCD.

I know many that took SLO over those schools because of the strength of the engineering program.
