I'm just finishing up my freshman year in college, and would like to go to veterinary school later on. They (most of the schools, at least the ones I'm looking at) require the test. If that plan doesn't work out, I would like to go onto graduate school and get my Masters, most likely in chemistry.
I would just like to start looking into books now, so I can be prepared when I actually do take it.

Manhattan GRE prep books are really good, followed by barrons gre

I’d recommend going to the bookstore and flipping through prep books to see what you like the best. There are also specific books geared towards each section, if you have a particular strength or weakness.

For what it’s worth, I used Kaplan, mainly because I wanted a lot of practice tests, and it worked out well for me. But odds are, the prep book you get isn’t what’s going to make or break you.

I don’t think you really need to start prepping now though. I’d recommend maybe a couple of months before you take the test so that it’s still fresh when you take the exam and you can get the most recent prep book.

I would recommend that you go through all of the books. In my personal experience I prepared from Princeton review. Then when I went through the actual practice tests online, I realized PR doesn’t cover a whole bunch of topics in Math at all. That was really a shocker for me.

I don’t know much about verbal but for Math, grab a set of books and make sure you cover all the topics and areas. Prepare your own notebook where you write the shortcuts. Then you can practice as much as you could. Trust me, if you don’t practice like crazy, you’ll end up scoring way below then you could.

Also I would recommend you to use this website: http://gre.magoosh.com/

This is a nice book for vocabulary.

I used Kaplan when I took GRE three years ago. My cousin who recently took GRE had good experience with Magoosh
