Someone I know got into ucla as a transfer, and they said the counselor walked her through everything, but that every other campus did not do that. I want advising on summer classes, so how the heck can I get guidance if my school is not as helpful as her experience? Do all schools allow academic counseling right after admittance? I just don't see how the school could take that on... Too many students.

If you were to be admitted to UCLA (big if) then could be eligible for Academic advancement program (similar to EOP&S at community college level). If that we’re the case u could get counseling designed for transfers.

I transferred ~2 years ago (Berkeley, EECS), I had emailed my adviser (UC general engineering adviser) in June about summer classes, scheduling, what on earth do I do about OoS articulations, etc. They were very nice and helpful, and responded quickly to questions. You can probably get face-to-face meetings as well.

Obviously you’ll need to reach out and contact the adviser, I wouldn’t expect them to email you and be like “hey, I’m adviser, ask me all your hundreds of questions!”, but if you email them I’m sure they’ll help you. It might take a bit of trial and error to find the right person (admissions, transfer advisers, general advisers, major advisers…) but there are people to help you.
