What?! How many periods does your school have??

7 periods and lunch; I only take 5 classes though.

Sometimes... i just really.. I shake my head at our school board. Why don't we get all the same "academic oppritunites" as everyone else, lol? Hmm, next district meeting I think i'm going to ask that- hey even if it doesn't change for me, at least for the people following, right?

And thanks for the link thisyearsgirl- I'm checking it out. =)

sarorah -- yes, pretty much. for the diploma, you take 3 higher and 3 standard level classes and theory of knowledge (basically philosophy). it also requires the extended essay (a 4000-word research essay that you write in 11th grade), "action" hours (extracurriculars) and community service hours. some schools offer an ib certificate program, which allows you to take some ib classes but doesn't award you the diploma.

Aye, washingtonians unite! (lol, sorry geek here)
Mexican- that would suck booty if I had to sit in the same class for 80min+ a day!

Is anyone here considering taking less classes the amount of periods offered, and why? Just wondering. =)

We have 7 class periods, excluding lunch. Each are like, 48 minutes I think. 8:15 to 3:15 with an hour lunch...not that bad. 7 classes everyday, same from day to day (unless you switch second semester or are taking quarter english electives). I don't know...it's ok. My boyfriend goes to school 7:15 to 2 something...I wake up when he's starting school!

i have 8 classes a year. 4 first semester and 4 second semester. Each is 90 minutes a day. there are no study hall, just a 30 min lunch. we go from 8-2:55 although the last 15 minutes of school are just for clubs to meet and kids to go ask teachers questions, etc.

The long classes actually aren't that bad, and they are at least over after one semester so if you really hate a class you don't have to endure it all year, but a shorter period of more intense misery. =)

Lol mary. That's cool how you guys have 15mins set aside for clubs! Although, aren't there problems with students wandering around? Seems like prime time to start some trouble?

well you have to have a club card or whatever and the club has to announce their meetings so the teachers class you are in lets you out. seniors can leave during that time, but otherwise there are teachers in the hall that check to make sure you aren't just wandering.

My school has only six periods - 0 period for jazz band.

I too live in a Seattle suburb. ;)

My high school has seven periods and has a rotating schedule; essentially we have 6 classes per day and each class meets 4 out of the 5 days per week. (8:10 - 2:40)

Our standard is 6 periods. But you can take less or more depending on whether you want zero period or whether you want to take fewer classes.

9 periods + lunch (so in actuality its 10). Each are 40 minutes with 5 minute passing periods in between. School day is 8:00-3:30. Jazz Bands are after schools between 5:30-7:00, 3 days a week.

We have a 5 day schedule (every monday is the same, etc..)

7 periods, plus lunch and PE, so that's 9. They're 40 minutes long, and we have 4 minutes in between classes. 7:35-2:15

5 periods + lunch + interval
each period is 1hr long except on thursdays-50min each. lunch is 50min and interval is 20min.
school day is 8.25-3:10
we have a 5 day rotating system also. each class meets 4 out of 5 days.

we have 8 normal periods, and a zero period. You can't have more than 7 credits in 1 year however, and next year is the first time lunch is an option. Each is 50 minutes long, including lunch, and 4 minutes inbetween classes.

we have seven periods, and divide the week into red days and silver days. On red days we take 1,3,5,7 and on silver days we take 2,4,6,7. 1,2,3,4,5,6 are about 1hour 45 minutes while 7 is about 55 minutes. and lunch is either before 5,6 or during 5,6 or after 5,6.

we have 7 40 minute periods a day which isnt half enough to complete our course so most of us end up taking extra classes during the vacations :(

My school has 4 90 minute periods per day to make a total of 8 classes. We alternate A and B days. School goes from 7:15 am to 2:15 pm.

A Day: Periods 1,3,5,7
B Day: Periods 2,4,6,8

Periods 5 and 6 include lunch. We have A,B,C, and D lunches (each about 25 minutes long) during these periods. Depending on your 5/6 period classes, you are assigned a particular lunch.

We have 10 periods, but its really 7 because of lunch. (It's confusing) But we have to take lunch (obviously) and gym in NJ. So that eats up a period. I saw some people's schedules, and they had alot of classes, but then I realized that they didn't take gym.

we have to take 2 semesters of gym, 1 semester of typing, pass all parts of the ohio graduation test (class of 2007 and later) or the 9th grade proficiency test (2006 and earlier), 8 semesters of english, 6 semesters of math, 6 semesters of science (biology and physical science required), 6 semesters of history (must include us history and government), 1 semester of health, 2 semesters in fine arts, foregin langauge or business, and 11 semesters of electives. I see a lot of your schools have a lot less requirements.
