As in, you write so much that you can't fit a conclusion to the thing. Is that looked down upon or what?

Yes, that’s a very bad thing. In my opinion, no conclusion means no score better than 3. So do you just have large handwriting? Or are you taking all of those suggestions to fill up both pages to heart, and it’s not working? If it’s the latter, don’t worry so much about filling up two pages. It is entirely possible to write a great essay in a page and a half. Make sure that every word you write counts towards your argument. If you’re saying something in 10 words that could really be said in 5 just so you can fill up more room, it’s time to reevaluate your strategy, especially if it’s costing you room for a conclusion!

i know lots of people who didn’t finish their essays and received 12s.

you don’t get graded on the conclusion (do you?). least for frqs and dbqs on the ap exam you dont need a conclusion. The intro should focus on the THESIS and your examples. then the examples need substance (specific examples etc.) finally the connection to the thesis. 2-3 examples shouldn’t take up more than 2 pages… otherwise, you have too much info. to fix this cut out the summary of the examples (bg. info etc.), improve handwriting (make it smaller, BUT legible), be more concise, use 2 examples
