I don't know about you, but this transfer process is undoubtedly one of the most difficult challenges I've ever tackled. (Also a REALLY crappy transfer essay opening =] )

What inspires you to keep going with it and give it your all? is it your dissatisfaction with your current school, a personal grudge with yourself, the dream of being in a better place?

Post your thoughts here.

"All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act out their dream with open eyes, to make it possible."

Seven Pillars of Wisdom, T.E. Lawrence

Well, the quote I posted sums it up… I guess I want to know that I’ve done my absolute best this time, so that if I get rejected, I’ll have nothing to regret. I slacked off in HS and I know I’m better than that, so I want to give it all I have now.

That being said, I don’t really fit in with my school now, and my dream school from HS is still my dream school… I want to be closer to home and I want to be in a more diverse community, because diversity is a big deal to me.

well that’s awesome! Which school is your “dream” school?

Penn. What’s yours?

Viola don’t you go to Bing? I’m transferring there from NYU (unless I can get into Cornell). What’s wrong with Bing?

What keeps me going is the thought of leaving my crazy parents and leaving NYU. I dream of a college where I don’t pay $40,000 in tuition and not get to pick a single class. I’m a nature girl and inspired by the bucolic beauty of upstate NY. With Cornell, it’s also about pushing myself and becoming more competitive.

Haha, star, I remember we talked about my problems with Bing in another topic. Ironically enough, I’m applying to NYU besides Cornell and Penn, so if you want to talk more, feel free to PM. I’m curious about what you hate about NYU.

All I remember you saying is you felt you weren’t challenged by the academics and wanted to pursue your dream school…I’ll pm you for details.

Viola- are you a frosh right now?

'cos I think if you are your inspirations would be different.
What I mean is, last year when I was a froshie I hated my school, and I wanted to transfer cos it sucked, but also, like you, my dream school from hs is still my dream school.

But now, I realize that I have to look at the bright side of things, and I’m just inspired by the better academics, and a drive to achieve more

good luck though in whatever you do

My dream school would definitely be Brown.
