I just signed up for a campus visit at Syracuse University, and they said that they will put me up for a personalized visit and tour. Does that mean that I'll be the only one there, or will I still be in a group? What I mean is, is a "personalized" visit/tour the same as a normal informational session and tour (with a bunch of other people) or will it just be me and my parent at the visit?

FYI, they said they can set me up with an admission counselor and financial aid adviser if I wanted to, so I was slightly confused about what a personalized tour would be...

You can ask the admissions office exactly what this entails.

Have you already been accepted? At two schools my son was accepted to, he checked in in the morning and was assigned a student sponsor. He and his sponsor for the day went to classes & lunch together. In the case of the meetings with the admin, I’d guess you’d re-meet with your sponsor after those meetings.

I’m not yet accepted…but I have already applied fro Syracuse, just waiting for a decision right now. So I guess I’m still a “prospective student”.

My D once did a campus visit that was highly personalized. They set her up for 2-3 classes she was interested in sitting in on. Made appointments with two department heads for meetings with her. She also had an interest in their language house & the dept head in charge of that program met us there & gave us a personal tour, then hung out there for another hour with us answering other questions D had. Then we did the regular camous tour. Then did a mini info session with 2 other visiting girls & the head of admissions because all the personalized stuff had taken place during regularly scheduled info session.

Personalized visits should include what YOU want to see and do on campus, not just the usual tour and info session.
