We are hoping to have S’s audition at CMU confirmed soon, and was just wondering what the audition day was like for those who have recently auditioned? I read in someone’s post that is is well run - but how long is it? How is it structured? etc.

Any input is much appreciated so we know what to expect!
Thanks!

D auditioned at CMU–for acting not MT-- so, fwiw-- it was very relaxed and non-threatening. Everyone was there, they took everyone’s picture–teachers spoke about the program, students around, bright-eyed and answering questions. Then they broke the group up and started auditioning-- not tons of people at all. The famous Barbara was home sick which was disappointing because we had heard how wonderful she is. There were several auditors in different rooms-- D said hers was careful to put her at ease and very kind. She was not sent on to another room, and thought others were. And, she didn’t get in. But loved the people and the feel of the program.

I believe you are asking regarding on-campus auditions, but adding our info for Unifieds.

My D auditioned at Chicago Unifieds. We had blocked out four hours for CMU (on their recommendation) and we were there for four hours plus. My D started out with the dance call right after their informational meeting (pretty close to 8 AM) and then changed and waited in another area on the same floor for her singing audition. Then she waited for her acting audition (same hallway, different room). She was one of two girls left at the very end for the acting auditions and we scooted out of there at close to 12:30 PM so she could catch a bite to eat.

monkey13, sounds like they’ve shortened the window to two hours, which is nice . . . it was kind of stressful (for me!) waiting all that time.

Thanks for the insights. Yes, we’re going to the on-campus auditions, and am just trying to get a sense for how long you’re there, etc. We’re going to a different school’s on-campus audition next week and his schedule starts at 8:45 and ends after 5:00!!
I didn’t know if all schools are like that.

2 hours? If they really did shorten it to a 2-hour block, I’d be surprised, as their website still shows it as a 4-hour block for Unifieds. Also, D has a confirmed audition slot 12:00-4:00 pm in Chicago, so I’m guessing it hasn’t changed from last year. Glad we didn’t schedule anything after that, in case it does go over!
