What is considered a "Good GPA"

I'm a freshmen at high school right now and I have some terrible terrible terrible grades.

Current:

Spanish 2: Mid B
Hon Geo: A
Hon Physics: High B
Hon Lit: High B
Orch: A
AP Gegraphy: B
Programming: High B

It calculates to about 3.3 ~ 3.4 UW and I'm scared shitless that I'm going to be a hobo later on. Anyone help?

this is on a 4.0 scale, so 3.3/4

HELP

GPA will depend upon what schools you are targeting for an acceptance. There is a thread applicants with a 3.0-3.5, which can give you an insight into some possiblities in that range. You have 2 more years before college applications are a consideration. Work to increase that GPA, take rigorous classes, involve yourself in some interesting EC’s, study hard for the SAT/ACT and enjoy HS… You have plenty of time to make things happen…

@Gumbymom‌ can you please link me in the 3.0-3.5 GPA thread, that sounds interesting… Thanks!

@Gumbymom I would like it too

Most colleges don’t pay attention to freshmen grades; You shouldn’t be too worried. What really matters is sophomore and junior year grades.

If you are considering UC schools, they don’t consider Freshmen years.

Also, since you have two and half more years to work on, you have chances to make it to uptrend by working hard in more rigorous classes…

Here is one of several threads on this website:<a href=“For the more typical students..Where were you accepted with 3.0 - 3.5 GPA, 1500-2000 SAT, 20-30 ACT? - Applying to College - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1679759-for-the-more-typical-students-where-were-you-accepted-with-3-0-3-5-gpa-1500-2000-sat-20-30-act.html</a></p>

There are several more threads linked in this discussion.

“and I’m scared ■■■■■■■■ that I’m going to be a hobo later on. Anyone help?”

Why are you so worried? The more you stress the more bad you’ll do in school, do you even realize that? Calm down. You’re doing fine right now, just keep it up, enroll in more rigorous classes in Junior and Senior years and engage in some extracurricular’s like volunteer clubs, sports etc (if you’re a resume builder don’t bother doing them).

Just relax!

add rigor to your course for the next few yrs; colleges look for a positive curve as well

Good GPA unweighted - 3.6+ (Great - 3.8+)
Good GPA weighted - 3.8+ (Great - 4.2+)

GPA is meaningless if you only took the easiest classes. Take honors and APs.

@Harsh1296‌ I’m planning to take all honors and AP, that’s what I’m doing right now. It’s just that you can only take 2 class as a freshmen at my school.
