So you’re clearly a science major, why didn’t you get a SMART grant on that list?

I don’t know. What are the qualifications for a SMART grant?

Oh, here we go:

The National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant, also known as the National Smart Grant is available during the third and fourth years of undergraduate study to full-time students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and who are majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, or engineering or in a foreign language determined critical to national security.

I’m only a first year.
That’s why.

Hopefully I can get it my 3rd year!

Ahhh okay I forgot that most people on this thread are not transfers, that makes more sense.

Yeah.

Can anyone answer my question about the blue/gold grant thing?

Can I get it or no?

rameezkhan: and I thought my $1,991 gift aid was bad. how are you planning on paying for it?

Where did you guys already get yours? Do you know once you send in your SIR?

I was estimated at 0 EFC XD.

Konakai: don’t understand your package… your Parent EFC + gift aid does not add up to COA.

ChristianWu: On your admission site (after the initial letter) there is an attached PDF with your FinAid package.

brassring: i just wrote a condensed version of my aid package. i said that my free money is $1,991 but i also have $9,100 worth of work-study and loans. My parent’s share is $14,432. All of that adds up to the COA.

@brassring

thanks!

@konakai, my parents make a little too much, I guess. Lol. Luckily, they’ve got a plan. My sister goes to Davis right now and I’m planning on SD. They’ve got some land back in their native country which they’ll probably sell off to pay for our education. haha.

rameezkhan: oh, haha. i think my parents are going to have to take out a huge loan or put a second mortgage on the house.
