Does anyone know anyone who has been deferred yet!?!??!?! This is insane.

Mail sent from Boston is being crazily delayed because of weather or something. Plus, there are a lot of Christmas packages being delivered. And cards. They're having a lot of stuff to deliver. I don't think the deferral letters take any longer than the tubes to be delivered. If they are sent by first-class mail, the delivery time (according to USPS website) is the same. I also noticed that on Caltech's board, almost all the posts were from accepted students. Maybe deferred people choose not to post. Also, note how few accepted people have posted. There really aren't that many.

Your delivery time isn't a good indication of your decision.

It's also possible that "the last plane out" from Boston on Friday before the worst of the storm hit included a single bin filled with tubes, and the rest of the tube-filled bins and envelope-filled bins didn't make it out until perhaps even Monday. Breathe, people, breathe....

But then that would mean that our chances are far lower if that were the case.... :(

I doubt that any significant portion of the 377 tubes would fit in one bin!

hmm... i count... like... more than my fingers, which means more that 10/377 tubes were in that bin, which means that at least or about at least 3% of acceptances are gone... which means i only have .97 * .126 to get in now... give me a handicap of about .1 cuz i'm asian and from jersey and there ya go

lol this is crazy guys. All the deferral letters could have easily fit in one bin. There's no point is guessing like this - everytime it'll turn against you. Instead, go find something to keep you occupied.

Red, the color of desire. Black the color of despair!

Don't forget that not all tubes would be on the same plane - unless everyone from one area of the country had all the accepts.

My guess is that a Miami plane made it on Friday but not necessarily all the tubes. Within the post office sorting area the tubes and other packages get separated - even those for next door neighbors. Packages are subject to human frailties - "I don't like dealing with tubes they're awkward" etc.

The letters are less understandable.

JohnGalt - Nice Les Mis quote there :)

Yeah, from my MITES buddies, about 12 have gotten in so far. Why do I have to live on the west coast?

oh my god.. this is way crazier than last year....
tracking airplanes!

mit... central jersey hates you... but i still love ya
