So everyone knows that Johns Hopkins has a great pre-med program, but what else is JHU particularly strong at? I've heard their creative writing program is pretty good. Also, what % of students at JHU actually do pre-med?

I believe they have one of the top international relations programs in the country (I want to say its ranked something crazy high like 2nd in the nation?)

Really? Is Georgetown first?

International Relations is the most popular major at JHU according to other posts on this site. I don't think there are as many pre-meds as you would think - maybe slightly higher than any other top university - say 20%?

I believe Art History is ranked #1, US News has Biomed Eng is #1 and Envi. Eng. is #5. From what I can tell, pretty much all of the departments are strong @ jhu because of the type of school it is.

The economics department is very strong (4 I think) and Writing Sems is 2nd in the nation. Also, the physics department is very strong, and features Adam Reiss (look him up on wikipedia).

This has been discussed previously:

And in answer to your second question, the amount of graduating seniors who apply to medical school ranges year-to-year between 20-24%. At any given time only about a quarter of the students at Johns Hopkins consider themselves "pre-med."
