what is quickest way to burn that excess fat off your bellly?

Lol I ate half a bag of Twix today. One of those halloween funsize bags too. Maybe 5 or 6 ounces of Twix candy. Definetely not healthy.

actually, you can drink milk (if you've nvr seen a yoplait commercial dairy helps you lose fat around the middle), just drink Fat Free. quit the cookies tho. aerobic exercise is great

Reduce Caloric intake. (stop drinking sodas all together, you'd be surprised how you can lose weight off of just dieting sodas..I did)
Exercise more. Running and ab workouts seem to help me out the most.

I didn't say you couldn't drink milk; I said drinking 1% milk-fat milk is better for you than whole milk.

drink skim milk, it has no fat at all, and its much better for you. just by drinking skim milk alone, i lost 2.5 inches off my waist in a few weeks, and i was very thin (not to mention petite- 5'1) to begin with. milk really does wonders for your stomach.

Here's what you do, I did this and now I'm actually strong:

1.play basketball. LOTS OF IT. Run up and down the court till the sweat drips from your face.

after you've lost some fat from pure running, start lifting weights. It's great for you; I recommend squats and lunges to start out, alternating with bench press and military rows...add sit-ups and conditioning work (basketball suicides, foot flyers, ask your school coaches for this. ask people at your local gym AND GET MEMBERSHIP TO IT what those weight exercises are and how they are performed; you NEED PERFECT TECHNIQUE to avoid injuries). DONT WORK JUST YOUR ABS. WORK THE LEGS AS I HAVE PRESCRIBED AS WELL.

About 3 - 4 months after consistent weight training, start running and do cross country/track for your school.

It can happen! I went from 5'6"/170 in 8th grade to 5'11"/145 in 10th grade. What's more, my mile time went from a 16:23 to a 5:59 in that same timespan. The lifting weights improved my flexed arm hang from 0 seconds in the beginning of 9th grade to 35 seconds at the end of 10th grade. My sit-ups went from 42 to 58; not much of a gain, but I never focused on abs until now =/

So keep working hard; I used to eat milk and cookies, drink soda, and devour chips everyday. Now I eat a balanced diet of meat, dairy products, fruits, veggies, and carb-containing foods, (well I go overboard on meat occasionally haha) not only to boost my athletic performance, but to stay all-around healthy.

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER...this should be a given though, along with eliminating the three C's as described by everyone else (cokes, candies, cakes)

um if you're really serious, i'd say go to a dietician or a doctor. Are you seriously gonna trust our advice? after all, we're only a bunch of college admission experts, not belly-fat burning experts.

Doing situps/crunches/other ab-specific exercises won't help you until you get rid of the extra belly fat

Reduce your calorie intake, drink more water, eat smaller meals throughout the day (don't skip meals), lots of aerobic exercise. Swimming and running are excellent.

Lifting weights will build your muscles, more muscles=faster metabolism, which is good

"Not eating milk and cookies."

Fat-free milk is OK.

Building muscles is essential. Lack of muscles = more susceptible and easy to get more fat at a faster rate.

I do jump-ropes 30min/day = about 1,500 incl. very short breaks (ranging from 30-45 secs after every 200 done)

My stomach is the part of my body where the fat goes on LAST - however, I usually get a bit flabby around the stomach area, like 1 week before I get my period (dont ask why.. i dont really know either)
And I just run on the treadmill whenever I can - I usually take off 1000 cal per day (according to my treadmill) - just the combination of running, sprinting, walking and powerwalking does it.
And by the end of 1 week, I get nice ... 'feminine'?... abs.

Cardio workouts are the best.

In fact, as I said, eliminating fat isn't as nearly as effective as eliminating ALL carbohydrates. The reason is pretty simple: lack of carbohydrates and excess of fat makes organism feel more relaxed in burning fat. Again, organism doesn't understand simple math.

You don't have to run. A brisk walk of 30 minutes or so 5 or more times a week is very effective. There is no need for special equipment or preparation and you can do it any time of the day or evening. Also, salads with low fat dressing (I have one for lunch every work day with lettuce, celery, and then various additions such as fruit, tomatoes, etc.) as the main entree for lunch or dinner takes off the pounds. With moderate exercise like walking and moderate eating habits, the pounds stay off. (I am down five inches around the waist in the last year.)

This may sound stupid, but try not to sit down as much as possible. Stand, move around, even little things. Park further away from a building your going into, stand while typing, just walk around while waiting for a page to load(if you have dial-up) or a friend to IM you. If you live near your work, bike, walk, or take the bus instead of driving your car (this also saves you money on that $2.90/gallon gas ;) ).

If the garage needs cleaning and you have free time, move some stuff around. If you watch TV, do it while walking on a treadmill or doing basic exercise. Just little things like that help you keep fat off.

Also, if you have a significant other and you two are "doing it", have lots of sex. That's great cardiovascular exercise and is great for your emotional/mental/sexual needs, too.

I am 5' 7 and used to weigh about 110 pounds, but I now weigh about 130 pounds due to the excess "fat" on my tummy.

OP, just go do the research. I didn't mean that in harsh way, but you know, some things people say can be misleading. I recommend reading articles on weight loss by experts.
There is a reason why the low-carb, high-protein diet works. Protein keeps you full longer and hence you'll eat less, hence less caloric intake overall. The formula for weight loss is not in the carbs--it's in the calories. But by reducing carbs and upping protein, you keep yourself satiated longer. However, some experts say that the low-carb, high-protein diet is unhealthy, as your body will go into ketosis and you'll start having bad breath, fatigue, etc. (see side effects of Atkins diet).
Another common myth is that eating fat makes you fat. That's false. There are 9 calories per gram of fat as opposed to 4 calories per gram of carbs or protein. Thus, of course eating a greater mass of fat will lead to a greater consumption of overall calories, leading to weight gain. It's not the fat that makes you fat--it's the calories. It's unhealthy to cut all fat because you will malnourish yourself and your hair may start falling out. Just read the daily recommended intake of fat on the food pyramids.
Overall, at your age, I'd recommend exercise as the method of weight loss rather than cutting down food intake, unless you're eating unhealthy already. Depending on your age, gender, height, and weight, your body needs a certain amount of calories to stay healthy. What I recommend you do is fulfill your caloric intake but at the same time increase the exercise. I believe there's a site by the government concerning the food pyramid.
So in short, eat healthy and exercise more. DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF. It will lead to many health complications--I have an anorexic friend who suffers from bradycardia, hair loss, depression, heart palpitations, electrolyte imbalance, etc etc. Also, dieting increases the risk of eating disorders so make sure you stay healthy. :)

Calories per gram of
FAT: 9
PROTEIN: 4
CARBOHYDRATES: 4

Good luck. :) Happy fat burning.

^^ that's very good.

Don't graze. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two small snacks.

Contract ab muscles while you walk, talk, whatever.

Run, jog, play tennis, swim (while holdig stomach in)

I'm wondering, is being 5'9" and weighing 150 lbs healthy for a guy?

belly fat leaves your body last. sucks, eh?
basically, do cardio, dont waste time doing sit ups, and eat a minimal amount of fat

yeah, that's healthy
