Unlike UCs that require a minimum of 2 readers per applicant, I am curious of how the CSU make their decisions. I’ve watched a video of a applicant being denied from a CSU after a failed transcript didn’t go through their computer, which made her automatically rejected. And I wondered, “wait… a computer decides who gets it?” Seems a bit unfair for those who made mistakes and potential for technical mistakes as well. So is there a HUMAN way that the CSUs check their applications or check for any errors?
yes, humans evaluate every CSU ap. That is one of the reasons it takes so long. I haven’t seen the video you are talking about but, my guess is, it is fake news.
CSU applications are evaluated by a computer, not a person.
@unpaidguidence19 where did you read that? can you post a link?
@NCalRent I cannot find the exact link from the video but if you google the CSU Handbook it explains the index scoring. or you can look up youtube videos.since you don’t send in essays, there is no reason for a human to view your application. @Gumbymom can explain the CSU system in depth better than I can.
though the CSUs use an index, a human actually recalculates the GPA and validates the a-g courses before a determination is made on every application. You can actually meet some of them on most campus tours.
@NCalRent Ah, my mistake. I thought you meant “evaluated” in the sense of a holistic/non-numbers based admissions process. However, I do not believe that all campuses have this because at my school, the computer makes errors in admissions almost every year and you have to call and ask that your documents be verified by a person. That is going off of what I’ve seen and heard or could possibly be just a transfer thing since we don’t have a-g courses.
