My AVID teacher said that for Cal States, no one looks at your application. They run it through a machine and it says if we are accepted or not.

Everything is rank-ordered based on GPA and test scores (taking in to account local service area). No reason for a human to get involved.

That really made me REALLY scared. I can kiss my cal poly pomona goodbye. but im still going to apply

The Cal Poly’s might be out of the norm. Check their requirements.

What do you mean out of the norm? I checked the requirements for entrance. A-Gs, sat/act…

The norm being all the other CSU’s which are ranking of eligibility index.

It could be argued that the highly automated system of admissions used by the CSUs has certain advantages over the “holistic” approach taken by the UCs. Having the computer, rather than a human, make the decision based solely on GPA, SAT or ACT scores and service area without any regard to essays, ECs, number of AP and Honors courses, class rank, life story and numerous other extraneous things that applicants can manipulate to their advantage, the CSUs are using a more objective, transparent and bias free system that ultimately results in a fairer process to decide who is accepted and who is rejected.
