if I want to get into some top universities like UCLA, UC Berkeley or even some ivy league schools(I know it's almost impossible), what is the best CC for me? I've found dozens but I'm still figuring out which is the best as I know very little about them(because I'm not a local) so could anyone help? This CC can be in any places but not just California. Also, I'd very much like to study astrophysics, IT or politics.
Thanks a lot! :D

<a href=“Community College Rankings 2013 | Washington Monthly”>http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/college_guide/rankings_2013/community_rank.php should give you an idea of where to look. I know you say no CC’s in California, but Santa Montica College has a high transfer rate to schools like USC, UCLA, Berkley, Etc.

Look for a community college that has articulation agreements with UCLA and UC Berkeley for the major you intend on studying.
This is done through assist.org.
Generally, the more major pre-req classes that articulate -> the more you can complete (preferably all) -> the better it looks on your application

Edit: Nevermind, I didn’t read that you said NOT in California. Assist won’t work for you in that case.

@NCXfer thank you!
@Freetofly112 thanks anyway…I mean it doesn’t have to be in California, as long as it can get me into these universities. Because if I can get into one of these and get a GPA close to 4, I’ll receive a scholarship of approximately $37500 annually from my local government >:D< . But you know, that’s extremely competitive. Btw, I’m just wondering would it be too competitive if there’re too many students in that kind of community college?

@leothehunk It wouldn’t necessarily be too competitive. The majority are not applying to Berkeley, UCLA, USC, etc. Also, you would definitely want to look into articulation agreements. I know Santa Montica College has AA’s with USC, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and all the other UC’s I assume.

Also, I misread your question the first time haha.

http://www.assist.org will show articulation agreements between California CCs and UCs and CSUs. If your targets are UCs and CSUs, use that web site to determine which CCs have the best coverage of courses you need for your major at your target schools.

Some private schools like USC have articulation listings on their web sites, but others will individually evaluate your course work after matriculation if you are admitted and matriculate.

@NCXfer I got it! Thanks again! Actually I’m not really aiming at UC’s but it seems to me that UC’s are more secure haha

@ucbalumnus great website and it helps a lot! thank you!
