What is the best way to prepare for the World History SAT?

Hey! I have my ancient civilization and my World History classes currently going on and the test is on January 2nd. I've heard pretty harsh things about this test. The only good thing seems to be the fact that you can get 14 wrong and still get an 800.

I have the Barrons book and the official college board one for the two histories!

How are you guys preparing? Is one book enough or should I get another?

Also, a few tips about your study habits might be beneficial for me. I've been trying to improve mine! So you're using flash cards, mind maps?
So far, I just bombed my diagnostic test and need some inspiration.

Thank you and good luck to those writing the test on June 2 as well! (:

Hey,

I’m on the same boat as you… but I’m taking my test in June… there’s one in January? I thought WH is only offer in June and December?
I’m also using the Barron’s and planning on getting the CB WH workbook, too.
I don’t use flashcards… I think that’s just too much to focus for for only one subject test.

I don’t know what “harsh” things that you have heard, but what I heard is that the test was rather easy… easy as in it is not meant to trick you, it’s straightforward; pretty much just using your brain/knowledge (study and read the Barron’s!).

So I think if we have at least read the whole Barron’s book, we are already at a good stage.
And you’re taking yours next year… you have plenty of time to prepare yourself for it.

PS. I think it is really good to borrow a map book from the library; it helped me a lot to have a general ideas of what specific region I’m studying at.

Good luck to both of us!

*June 2nd! Sorry, had a typo there. I’m writing it on June 2nd too. The Barrons book seems to be pretty thorough but I feel like the questions could be from anywhere!

I heard like about one-fifth of the people that take US history take World history!
Studying with a map seems like a good idea and 4-5 practice tests should be enough!

I think a mind map summarizing say a whole chapter in a page usually helps!
Good luck to you too! If you use any other method, do let me know (:
