What is the best way

As we all wait (besides the EA ED parents), what is the best way to deal with upcoming decision days? I have stopped asking and figure no news is bad news. Perhaps I’m stating the obvious, as we are first time college parents, but seems like it’s better not to ask anymore of decision results…we get excited…but have learned that is not a good thing either…how do you (parents) deal with decision days?

I’m not dealing with it at all. Just stressed 24/7 until we have heard from every single school. My life is at a stand still. It’s not healthy at all. I’m operating under the assumption that once we have all the decisions and D21 has made her choice I will be a functioning responsible adult again :joy:

Exactly right.

You can be very very sure that your student is even more anxious than you are. Do your best to engage them in anything not college related- but if it requires physical activity (run an errand? go for a walk together?) or doing something that will help somebody else who needs it (old neighbor X genuinely needs help with Y) or super distracting (mind neighbor Y’s toddler so that the parent can do Z) even better!

You know what is funny? is that the time when decisions come out my S/D are at their club practice…when decision came out last week it was DURING his competition…felt so bad…hope all our kids are happy where they land in the next coming weeks.

I would let your kid bring it up, and keep things as low key as possible. Even when they get a much hoped-for acceptance, I would keep it low key because it is really about the 4 year experience and not “getting in.”
