What is the big deal?!

there are some people on this board who are just anal about what to call the school…Penn, UPenn, blah blah blah. I really don’t think it should matter that much, people shouldn’t be SCOLDED for calling it UPenn instead of Penn. i don’t think the people at the school will care that much either…of course on their bags/sweatshirts/etc. it says “Penn” but their website is UPENN.edu

why should it be such a big deal?

it's not. this is the only place i've seen where the precise name is debated so hotly, and i've been on campus for a year and a half.

besides, official university communications are inconsistent in usage as well.

and if i were an admissions committee member i wouldn't care at all what you call this school as long as you really want and deserve to be here.

Actually, if you type "penn.edu" it will take you to the same website.

ok I know its not a big deal as much as people make it out to be.

but for the record it is Penn. (according to Lee Stetson, who clearly stated that "Penn does not refer to itself as uPenn".)

Penn markets itself and brands itself as Penn to try and remove that state school image.

Frankly no student here cares what it's called.

people sometimes only say upenn instead of penn because its always getting confused with penn state
