What is it? What is the difference? What does it contain?
The school report is the set of all documents that’s supposed to be submitted by your school for your US college application. It contains, among other things:
- your transcript
- a school profile (how selective is your school? what do your grades mean? etc)
- a letter of recommendation from a school official
- a form with some school-related questions about you (what's your class rank? have you ever been expelled? etc)
The transcript is the list of classes that you have taken for the last 4 years of secondary school, and the marks you earned. The school report gives background about your school and where you are within your peer group (like the examples @b@ar!um listed). There is a form on the common app that your school counselor completes, but if your school often sends students to the US they may already have a standard form that they use.
A highschool transcript is the complete list of your grades since you enrolled for highschool lets say you requested your transcript of records during your 4th year highschool, then your transcript would contain all of your grades since first year highschool up to 4th year highschool. And usually colleges requires transcript of records rather than a report card because a report card only contains your grade during your current year lets say you are a 4th year highschool, then your report card would contain your grades during your 4th year highschool.
I don’t think all schools issue a School Profile for colleges.
