I know it sounds petty, but in reality only really wealthy people can afford the nice designer bags. I don't want to go to a college were i feel out of place.

So list: your favorite brand of handbags that you have and what hs/college do you go to.

Thanks sry for what some may think is a dumb ?.

This sounds totally gay, but I had to study purses to see what kind looked the best so I could figure out what knock-offs to buy for my fiancee and her friends over in Korea. I think Coach looks the best for the right amount of money. Louis V are not really all that nice looking but are one of the most expensive. Gucci are really nice but insanely expensive.

Well, those Dooney & Bourke bags are still annoyingly popular, but I really don't like them. I also don't think that LV's are very cute. I like Coach and vintage bags... I love vintage bags!

I completely agree, lionswim. What is the fascination with having bags, purses, luggages, etc... that are all brown with that LV logo on it? Oh yes, and now there are those rainbow ones.

People only like them probably because it's a status simple of sorts. LV is soo expensive that if you have one, you must be cool for being able to afford one. The ironic thing is that LV is one of the most counterfeited brands. My nanna claims she can tell the difference between a fake and a real. I can't. If it's so common place and accessible these days it only stands to further lose its appeal.

A couple of months ago I was at the mall and I actually saw the LV store, in which no one was in it, lol.

LoL, although I have to say that LV's come in different colors other than just brown, they really aren't anything special. (Rainbow ones...oh jeeze.) I've also wondered where this fascination of Louis Vuitton comes from. I mean, does anybody know the price difference between LV's, Coach, Kate Spade, etc.? Why would someone buy a purse that's completely hideous especially if it costs more money than other comparable "designer brands?" (Or maybe LV's are on a completely different level than Coach and Kate Spade... I wouldn't know.)

I totally agree on the LV logo...which I think is ugly and I don't understand why anyone would want to carry a bag with LV all around it. In general, I don't like prints-Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Dooney & Bourke, Coach, Fendi, etc...I'm fine with bags by those companies witout the logo (providing that they are not hideous).

I'm a bag fanatic, meaning that I have an entire closet for bags and shoes only. I guess I don't really care about the brand, but I like versatile bags that can hold tons of random stuff and that usually have some sort of unique color, fabric, or shape. As for preferred brands, I like Lulu Guinness, Kate Spade, Tod's, and Pucci.

And at my school, the most common authentic namebrand bags are Kate Spade, Prada, Coach, and Vera Bradley (I only like their luggage)...and my school is in a relatively rich yet modest town (if that makes sense at all)

To answer the original question... I carry a Furla handbag.

... and I agree that LV, D&B, Coach, etc are status symbols but they are also great quality bags. I tend to carry the lesser known designer bags.

I hate to sound like the spoiled brat here but I have authentic Gucci Prada and Burberry I completely think they are worth the price becuase I swear these are the best quality I have ever seen they'll probably last me my whole life! lol You'll see me when i'm 80 carrying them around! but as for the logo thing I think it looks nice as long as its not it bright colors

Although I think both of those are good quality bags... styles change and things that are "classic" now will not be in ten... even five years. I don't buy that argument. I have a vintage Prada clutch that I got as a gift but I never use it because it just isn't practical.

I don't like logos. Also, I don't see what's the fascination with LV. I go to a public school and almost everyone has a LV bag. The only designer bag I have is Coach, and I didn't even know it was Coach, until a friend told me that it was. I prefer unique bags that no one really has, and the Coach bag looked both unique and practical.

i have such a mom purse. it's big enough for my camera and journal and tons of other ****. i got it at urban outfitters--it's acutally pretty hideous, but i like it.

i have a few kate spades, which i use for going out or whatever.
actually, my favorite bag is one of those free gifts you get when you buy makeup at the department store.

i hate LV, coach, dooney&burke, etc. i wish i had $1000+ to spend on a balengcia, though.

It's ok, Sohni, I'm not spoiled AT ALL and I still agree with you. It's true that they're a status symbol, but they're also made of the absolute best materials and with the absolute best craftsmanship. From what I've heard, those bags will last through the apocalypse.

welll..me..i have this reallly cute old navy bag(not really an old navy fan)..i bought for ten bucks..and it is soo adorable.and i put little political pins on it...no bookbags are designer bags for me..i really dont like them...its nice to buy funky bags or vintage....i dont like the material of most designer bags..its ugh...qutie manly.i think...my mom has this burberry bag and its been sitting there for ages..

btw..my ten dollar bag has been lasting me a long time and i always use it..hehe

Everyone at my HS has those Dooney and Bourke bags. God, they look so crappy. You know what's really ugly? Anything made by Baby Phat. Like 80% of their bags have WAY too much stuff on them (i.e. chains, buckles, logo all on one purse! Craziness..). Sorry, but they really irk me.
