What is your school's SAT average?

CR 420 M 420 W 410 so thats like 1250/2400 woy! Well i go to a poor urban school with a large immigrant population. we have an IB magnet though so we do have some higher scores like myself (2000) but that kind of disparity is sad...

1400/2400

940/1600

Public high school in the boonies, gotta love a school with 600+ rednecks.

http://www.sjs.org/ftpimages/80/download/download_group633_id275938.pdf

median sat 2185.

I don't actually go to this school, I go to Holland Holl, but my friend in Houston does, and he told me about it.

their high school is different from nearly all other high schools like Thomas Jefferson because for kids who are accepted in kindergarden, they get to stay there until high school. maybe 20 kids got in in kindergarden solely because they were legacies of parents who donated money to the school, and these 20 kids get like 1700's-1850's which brings the average down. those kids don't actually deserve to be there and bring the stats down a tad. The reason the school can get away with letting in dumb legacy kids is because in kindergarden it's hard to actually tell whether or not a kid will actually succeed academically later on.

and anyways, 2185 is almost a 2200, and that's extremely impressive.

get it?

hahaha i guess that bit of sarcasm went over your head. I get it, I just thought it was funny how you didn't include kids who donated money, got in a certain time, etc. EVERY private school has children of donors, minorities, etc etc. If you choose not to include some demographic, every school's average score would raise significantly. That being said, 2180 is very impressive for an average. It must be a highly selective school.

yeah but holland holl has much better football team

yeah but holland holl has a better football team we are going to win the conference championship

Damn, I wish I went to that school... 17 to Princeton, 15 to Yale, and 5 to Harvard..? Thats amazing.. My school has sent 1 person to Harvard in the past 13 years.

EDIT::

Actually, this info about st. john's appears to be newer:

http://www.sjs.org/ftpimages/80/download/download_group633_id333285.pdf

my girl friend says it's actually a lot harder to get into top colleges from st. john's though because the competition is so stiff. she says that because she is asian, it's even harder to get into top scholols. here's what she said:

to get into an ivy, you need a 93 average, and only the top quarter of kids have 93 averages.

to get into top schools like rice, tufts, vandy, uchicago, you need a 90.5, which the top half of the class has.

the bottom half of the class is out of range for top schools.

however, the people in the bottom class are still really smart and most have over 2050 on their sat's, but the competition is so stiff and EVERYONE is smart, so they get the short end of the stick.

just what my asian nerd friend says. holland holl is better than st. john's though, much prettier campus and much less cutthroat

lol the download says that an 88 or 89 is honors, but an 89 would make you in the bottom half of the class and eleiminate you from getting admitted to top colleges.

(not eliminate actually, but it's extremely hard to get in with below a 90)

18 TO YALE??

man. We would be lucky if one person a year goes to Yale.. haha.

My guess is somewhere around 1300/2400 :/

We only have a handful of students taking the SAT
Like 30. Maybe. At the most. It's quite sad.
But I'd say the average is around 1800/2400 only because most of the people taking the SAT tend to be the ones aiming for more competitive schools.
haha most people take the ACT in my school.

That school must make kids take SAT classes from like 5th grade on or something.

my schools average is a 1669
And we have like 600 people in each class

My school's average is 1310...

...out of 2400.

but that's the school's total average; those of us who go to the magnet inside the school are counted with everyone else. the magnet average is probably at least a 1720 or so...which is still significantly higher than the school as a whole.

How do you check? lol

1408 out of 1600
and
2080 out of 2400

public school

log in to collegeboard.com
go to my tests/my sat
then click see score report ---> compare my scores
for each section it will list the national, ur state, and ur school's average score

I live in a very poor area in Southern California.

1400~ out of 2400.

Only about 10 people in the entire graduating class scores above 1800 on the SAT. =/ Our valedictorian scored a 2000 and that is about the highest it gets around here.

I would also like to know if colleges take into account of how well you scored versus people in the same school.

School average
1770/2400 (only high because like i said, most people take ACT..like 95+%)

State average
1710/2400 (probably because most take ACTs as well)

Thanks brainygotback..I didn't know how to check it until now!
