I live in Maine, and there was a big article in the paper today about how Maine is the first state to measure the achievement of H.S. Juniors by SAT results. The average scores for the state of maine are 433 in CR, 444 in Math, and 435 in Writing.
For my school in particular, the average SAT's are 401 in CR, 407 in Math, and 392 in Writing.

I'm at 700 Cr, 700 Math, and 710 Writing, and sadly, I have the second highest scores in my school of 1200.

I'm a sophomore and I've taken the SAT this Dec, and made not a great score but still exceeded school avg by far. (school avg are really really less, my school's avg is 908! (M and CR only)) I believe no school's avg would exceed 1200! (is there anyone from a smart school w/ SAT avg of 1200 (only CR and M?)

My school releases the averages every few years. I overheard my chem teacher commenting on how the averages went UP to ~950 combined (M + CR), not as bad as it could be, but certainly not excellent.

My school's small, private, and not-in-the-US, so we have a comparatively high average (everyone doesn't take the SAT): 690 CR + 630 M = 1320.

I had 800 V/730 M the first time around, and 800 V/770 M second time. Both of which are, respectively, second-highest and highest total scores. (Most of my class cluster around the mid-600s.)

I go to a fairly big public high school (about 700 students per graduating class) in So Cal.... Average SAT: 1135 (about 1700 in current scale?). I'm kinda disappointed by those numbers (I just found out about them), but I scored 1500/2230, so I guess I'm among the smarter bunch of the school? Well I guess I should be honored ^^

There is this competitive science magnet school where I live. It's average SAT is 1905 (1270 old style). I was rejected because of its stupid admissions policy. It had no admission test, so kids going to the easy public schools of NYC had an unfair advantage over kids like me who went to challenging private schools. I took high school math in 7th grade while some of my friends in public schools were dividing fractions. Therefore, I was passed over because the challenging math brought down my average. The school even rejected my school's #2 student who has a 2240 SAT and was already accepted into Georgetown. Now this school finally had enough sense to develop an admission test and become one of NYC's "Specialized" public high schools, along with schools like Stuyvesant and Bronx HS of Science. I really wish that this school had done this sooner because I think I would have gotten in based on a test. My SAT is 2030, 130 points above the school average so I think I could have managed to get in. If you ever read NY Magazine's article about those "super-applicants," the Indian kid with the 1920 SAT goes to the school I am ranting about. He is one of several people from that school who I beat on the SAT.

Enough of my complaining about this "magnet" school and let's get into my current school. I attend a competitive Catholic High School (probably the second best academic school on Staten Island besides the magnet). My school, gives two different averages for the SAT: the one for the general school population and the one for the Scholar's Program which is what I am in. The general school population average SAT is about 1050/1600 and the Scholar's average SAT is 1300/1600. So the general population+scholar average is probably about 1070 (roughly 1600 new style) As for me, I have a 710 math, 640 CR, and 680 Writing for a total of 2030/2400. So I am a good deal above my school's average and a little bit above the Scholar average.

I looked at class of '05 data for my school and the average CR was 641 and the average math was 681. I scored somewhat higher than my school's average on the combined M + CR.

The lowest score I know of at my school was a 1950. Probably about 30 students took the SAT, and there are at least 6 or 7 2300+ scores. We don't do averages, but if I had to guess I would say the average is probably 2100-2150.

On the other hand, my school is a highly regarded Canadian school, so firstly everyone's pretty smart, and secondly those who write the SAT are the ones who are self-selecting US colleges anyways, and thus generally the smarter of the smart people.

My school's scores cluster around the mean. Most of the scores fall into the 1000-1100 range out of 1600. Most years, the highest scorer is in the upper 1400s and the lowest scorer is in the 700s or 800s. So there aren't any amazingly high or low scores each year, just a cluster.

My class has been considered one of the best in school history academically, despite the fact that we don't have any perfect scorers. There is only 1 2300 kid and his score is a superscored 2320. He is a freaking genius though. There are 4 kids who broke 2200 from my school: The 2320 kid I already mentioned, a 2270 kid who came from Central America, a 2240 Georgetown admit who I already talked about, and a 2220 who already got a free ride to Fordham. They are all in the running for national merit scholarships. According to the college board data, 2200 is in the 1% nationally. My class has 278 people and 4 2200 scorers, so that is a bit above average sine 1% of 278 would be 2.78. I know that there are plenty of schools with more high scorers, but I still think that my school is academically competitive.

My school is weird. We have a larger-than-usual amount of high-achievers but also a gigantic share of idiots. Nevertheless, in one AP class I have about 5-6 people sitting in the rows next to me that have 1500+ out of 1600 (total class size about 600), and I'm sure there are a bunch more other than those guys. And there are a lot of 32+ on the ACTs too.

The lowest score in my school's history is a 680/1600. The highest in my school's history is the 2320 kid in my class. The kid from Central America is amazing though. He got an 800 Writing and he has been in the States for less than a year. He even speaks with an accent. Somehow, he gets the best grades on AP English tests and essays.

As I said before, our scores are close to the mean. There aren't too many very high or low scorers at my school.

The average for my school on the old test was around 900, so with writing, the average is probably around 1350, and from what I've heard, it sounds about right. I have the highest score in my class, but I'm tied for the highest score in the school at 2280. The second highest is a 2140. Rural public school.

In my school, the average grade is between 80 and 100 students. We are public, and not a magnet school or w/e. I think our average is 1250. We do send 4-8 students to Ivies every year tho (5-10%).
