What I've Realized...

So, yesterday I got rejected to UCLA

and yeah, I was like sad for about 10 minutes, even yelled and stuff
but then I realized It's NOT the end of the world!
lol

I got rejected to all schools last year, this year I've been accepted to 4 so far!
And I'm happy to say that even though I'm appealing (yeah, I'm gonna give it one more try)

I'm starting to really get pumped for UCI, it is one of those schools that I've always wanted to attend, and now I'm in!

lol

even if I get into Cal, I love UCI more, I started to realize how much UCI is greatly underappreciated

I personally want to do a lot of things at UCI, and UCI is an amazing UC to do just the same stuff u get to do at other UCs with just the same quality.

And even better!

for example, at UCI u can do Drama and other stuff like Public Health
at UCLA, u can't do that, u have to do one or the other, yeah right F that.

So for those going to UCI and maybe aren't too happy because u got rejected

F that man

UCI is da bomb, anteaters baby! and it's kick Ass. It's an amazing school and you'll love it once u get there. I haven't been a student but I've hung around the area (I lived 2 years in Huntington Beach) and I have friends there, I've been to the IN-N-Out, to Aldrich park, (without being a student)

and it kicks ass

UCI should be known as the kickass anteaters

YEAH!

haha go UCI! i'm still waiting for a decision. =( but UCI is my #1 pick.

I will tell you, its a lot more fun than I expected it to be.

You'd totally take Berkeley over UCI, in a heartbeat. Just sayin.

^ I know 4 friends (2 in my dorm 2 from school) that choose Irvine over Cal. I'm glad your excited. I wasn't that excited a year ago, but after going to orientation I realized that Irvine was just as good, if not better, than the other UC's!

The In-N-Out there is awesome !

^ I've been in irvine a lot, I know quite a number of people, my ex girlfriend goes there...

I love UCI, I think it's way better than UCSD (didnt like UCSD, just no, la jolla,,,,, no)

And I know, I would chose UCI over Cal for the friends I have close by.

I've been too far from Irvijne

Glad that you are excited.

Unfortunately for me I go to the high school right down the street from UCI. Sometimes after school I go to the Tacobell or In-N-Out right across the street from UCI for lunch. And I'm not too thrilled about going to College so close to my HS. But we will see...

that high school next to UCI is like one of the best high schools in the country supposedly

^ I heard that too, is the one by Jamboree Road? or by university road?

I forgot, but I've seen it... it looks so bad-ass compared to my high school (300 graduating class, 7 APs max but average AP kid takes 2)

I never actually visited the campus, but I am going to be competing at the Bren Center in 2 weeks.. and I am going to attend there in the Fall :)

UCI is my dream school; so I am super excited! Hahah.

tommy, haiku: Its called University High school (named for its proximity to UCI) and it is a really really good school. Great academics, great football team. If I have kids I want to send them there.

haikumarukuchan,
my thoughts exactly!!!! UCLA was my dream baby since I could spell the word college, but now that i look back on it, I realize that I don't even know WHY i wanted to go to UCLA. I think it was the media effect because of all the publicity UCLA gets from its sports teams..
but all in all, im extremely excited to go to college.. especially now that im looking into UCI, i really feel like I'd be able to call it home for the next 4 years. I cannot wait for orientation!
do you know if irvine is any good for its political science program?

PS. the only downfall to UCI is that it has so many asians...not enough diversity

^ I'm cool with the Asian persuasion, I am part asian... lol.

I wast so into UCLA because of marching band, but I think UCI has a pep band so I may do that. I wanna do a lot at UCI, but first I need a way to finance my education.

I have 4K saved up, maybe up to 7K by the end of summer, but I need more.

Scholarship applying baby!

@ spellingbead
Unis all right but its competitive as heck

haiku, what about financial aid? FAFSA?
and are you really set on UCI? i've read UCR's threads and they sound really convincing too..

and.. i AM asian. hahha so it's not that i have a problem with asians, im just saying that i wish the school was more diverse..

^ Well, so far I have 4K, after working from here til august I'll make an extra 3-4K
The FAFSA, I have issues with that... I'm going to contact UCI FInancial Aid When I'm there for SOP... I think they can help me get a loan 1st year.

Ummmm, I'm applying to 58 scholarships.... 40 which are for latinos, 20 for "students without residency" and 5 from kids espeifically from Mexico

money ranges from 500 dollars to the "super beefy one" is 10K from Tylenol.
Most are 1K, 2K

so if I can get at least like 5 of those 58 scholarships. I'll be pretty secure.

I'm glad you're excited about UCI too. The general attitude about students here is that a lot of them (including me) are initially disgruntled about attending here because we were rejected by other schools, but we come to LOVE our school and school pride has been growing every year. It's been really great. Welcome, Anteater :)

^ Zot zot Zot!

I want to play sports at UCI.

Any water polo/swimming there? hard to get into?

That's a ton of scholarships!

^haiku, thats so cool man, i played polo in high school too!!!!!
i mean, what are the odds?!
seeing how it's D1, i don't think they'll take walk-ons to their campus.. lol
but you interested in IM's?
