What kind of career can I have with this dual major?

I’m going to be starting college this fall and will be double majoring in Environmental Studies (focus in chemistry or biology) and Economics.

I love both these areas of academic study which is why I have decided to do them both. But now I’m worried about job prospects.

I will be attending a US news top 5 LAC in the northeast if that counts.

I might attend graduate school or law school but that isn’t decided yet. Either way I would like to know what kind of industries would be interested in hiring me and how can I make myself a stronger candidate.

Money does matter and I would like a career with good financial prospects.

Looking forward to the replies.

Government LOVE those majors. that said you could probably get a job in the business side of a company that deals with science related things quite easily.

Thank you for the reply…

Any other insights? I’m an international student btw…

@PWaitlist if you’re open to moving internationally you could go to a country such as china that has major pollution problems and try and strike it rich by solving the pollution problems. Or even start your own environmental company.

The science world is international. If you want to strike it rich you may need to move to other countries to get a great resume than go back to your home country.

Good luck.

You could go into the public or private sector. With an econ degree you would be able to enter almost any industry due to the quantitative skills you’ll develop. If you want to work in a field where both degree areas overlap I’d recommend grad school and becoming an environmental economist if thats what you wanna do.
