What kinds of stuff do they ask, want you to ask, etc.?

Why you want to go to NW

Personal interests (academic, EC, other)

Past accomplishments/general background

It's good to ask open questions about the other person's experiences so you get an idea of NW, don't ask overly-specific questions about academic programs or other things since the other person probably won't know.

My interview for NW was conversational - the interviewer talked a lot about his background and experiences, and took up a lot of his own time during the day just to talk. This was the best way to have an interview but does not happen every time. You might get 1-2 obscure questions but nothing hard.

just had my interview yesterday...
haha I felt like I kept talking about myself.. the interview went by so quickly.
It was a lot about my extracurriculars, etc. She asked a question about my family relationships.
And I asked her some questions about her internship and class sizes, etc.
She was really nice and told me she was really bad at interviews.. which helped me out a little because that was my first interview... lol but hopefully it went well!
GL to you!

D just had her interview this morning. It lasted 55 minutes. D said they talked a lot about why NU? Family and responsibilities as well as part time job etc. D said it was very casual and they both spoke in great detail although D had very few questions of her interviewer. Good Luck to all.

Multivariable calculus. Be well versed in your trig indentities; NU interviewers love to test your integration skills. Also be entirely prepared to discuss the Marxist aspects of Aristotle's earlier works. Aside from that, it is a toss up. I've heard things ranging from analyzing Kant's Critique of Pure Reason and working elastic collision problems without a calculator. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice guys, I actually had my interview yesterday and it went really well.

Enteril- I am glad to hear that your interview went well! Care to share some details? Did you ask most of the questions or do most of the questioning? It is always good to hear a few people's experiences.

I think my guy just ended up being really funny. We talked for a while about reasons why I wanted to leave the state, why I wanted to go to the Midwest in particular, that sort of thing. He was very nice, didn't ask many of the "typical" questions until near the end. Hopefully you'll get another conversational one too...andn he did most of the questioning, not me.
