What makes Stern unique?

I was recently accepted into Stern and University of Michigan and Brandeis. What sets Stern apart from other business schools that makes it better than schools like Ross besides its location.

Thanks

I recommend you read the thread started by Hellodocks, “Current Stern Sophomore: Ask Me.” He gave a lot of detailed info specific to Stern.

As a school, NYU is either on par or not quite up to the standards of Brandeis and Michigan (more Michigan than Brandeis). However, the Stern business school is extremely prestigious, and it’s widely considered to be second only to Wharton at UPenn. I would bet 75% of the kids who got into other NYU schools could not get into Stern. For all I know, Brandeis and Michigan have great undergrad business schools too, but let me put it this way: I’ve never heard of them. If you want to do business, go to Stern. You’ll be set for life.

Prestige (2nd ranked finance program nationally, top-5 undergrad business school since God knows when)

Location (situated in the finance capital of the world, access to year-round work and networking opportunities, far more valuable than any kid imagines)

Rigor (crazy grading and quantitative curriculum, Latin honors here begin at only 3.5+change, whereas other schools at NYU don’t start until 3.7 or so usually)

Reputation (complete finance factory, a bit less-known for trading but a complete banking breeding ground)

Alumni base (Paulson or Rubini, anyone? Very well-connected, well-known, prominent alumni who are all across the Street)

What I came up with in as long as it took me to type that. Read my thread if you have more questions.

Oh, and Ross is a great school too, often compared with Stern. It’s the public version to our private, whereas NYU is a private school UMich is public. Has equal access to recruiting and a comparable alum base, but loses a bit on the location, prestige, and a few other factors.

and you are not guaranteed Ross
