What music do you listen to?

I just learned theres a light that never goes out on my guitar the smiths are great. btw does anyone like the new animal collective album?

yeah, strawberry jam is good, probibly thier 3rd best in my eyes.

out of all their albums, i enjoy strawberry jam the best, actually =]

doesn't anyone in this world (except me) like classical (more specificly romantic) music?

Right now, Hardstyle dance.

I've been ripping this stream off Itunes radio using RadioLover (for mac).

I record a couple hours at a time and then copy it on to my MP3 to listen to at work.

Are you guys for real? Is it like bad to be into pop. culture or something. Almost all of the music that I've seen posted is either old or "indie" or "alternative". Sure some of that stuff is good, but don't act like you don't like some of the Beyonce, Rihana, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Kanye West, Shakira, and the "oh so horrible 00's Hip Hop" joints. Please, get a grip and get over your "I'm not going to conform to society", individualist bull s**t. I mean seriously.

username - i love classical music, but don't listen to it frequently.

my faves are linkin park, fall out boy, evanescence.
anything except heavy metal and rap.

username- i like classical too, especially playing it on the piano...

and my word jsmall- no one said it was bad to be into pop music. If that's what you like to listen to, then good for you. It's a lot to assume that someone who listens to "old", "indie", or "alternative" music has a noncomformist, individualist attitude. Just because I like music by people who actually write their own songs and play their own instruments doesn't mean i'm full of individualist bull*****. Sure, I occasionally like a pop song, but after hearing it 50000000 times, I start hating it. I don't act like I don't like stuff by said artists- most of the time I really don't like their songs. If I like a song, it doesn't really matter who it's by. No one is attacking your music tastes, so why are you?

all metal all the time

system of a down
serj
disturbed
trivium
shadow's fall
queens of the stone age
rob/white zombie
rammstein
marilyn manson
others

I like how two of those are nu metal and you say you hate metal.

More than I could ever write, but I'll make a short list: My Chemical Romance (Teenagers, Thank You for the Venom), La Oreja de Van Gogh (Mariposa, Geograf

circumlocution2 - I agree that a lot of the music that has been listed is good, I just noticed that very little of it was pop. This suprised me because pop music is, well, popular. I appologize if I offended anyone, I just feel like many people these days are deliberately trying to boycott pop. culture just cuz they want to be different.
FYI many of the artists that I listed do write their own music, such as Beyonce and Christina Aguilera.

I hardly listen to pop. Though some of the songs can be catchy, they become irritating after a surprisingly short amount of time. Can you honestly say that you currently listen to the same pop bands you listened to a year ago? How about 6 months ago?

I mean...I listen to Beyonce and Christina Aguilera, because--well--they're on the radio/tv and such, and some of their songs are catchy, but when I want to listen to music or whatev I usually prefer better instrumental quality and more interesting lyrics than..."This is why I'm hot," haha. But...as much as I am in love with Alex Turner, you just don't dance to the Arctic Monkeys at homecoming, lol.

I do like some pop though, I guess it'd be classified as pop-rock--Maroon 5, The Kooks, Tres Bien, Locksley, etc.

oh yeah, and another problem I have with our pop-culture is that it get SO FREAKIN IRRITATING when the play songs over and over and over again! like, sure Hey There, Delilah was sweet the first couple of times, after couple of months I reached the point when I wanted to gag when I heard it.

Well I love ska music...Pepper and Slightly Stoopid are my favorite bands. Does anyone else listen to them? I didnt really see them mentioned.

I also listen to Maroon 5, Jack Johnson, Enrique, Rooney, Dashboard Confessional, and Vertical Horizon. And I have a weird thing for Frank Sinatra I dont know why but I just love his voice lol.

Oh yea and I love rap music, not necessarily because of the lyrics but I love the beats to a lot of them. Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and Eminem = <3

So basically I listen to everything!

apparently listening to mainstream rock and rap means you listen to everything

I haven't really listened to the bands you've mentioned, but I do enjoy ska. Streetlight Manifesto is probably my favorite. Operation Ivy is good stuff, as are the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Pretty much no one at my school likes the same type of music as me, which is frustrating because I love finding out about new bands! some of my favorites include:

Arctic Monkeys
Arcade Fire
Beatles
Rolling Stones
The Strokes
The National
Neutral Milk Hotel
Sigur Ros
Air
Elliott Smith
The Shins and Decemberists (so proud they come from my city!)
Kaiser Chiefs
Cat Stevens
Franz Ferdinand
White Stripes
Fratellis
oh and Mika... you need some music to dance to while driving:)

There are tons more, but that is currently

Well I listen to more than just that (techno, 80's music, local bands), but I figured I would list the things people might have heard of. And I would hardly consider Pepper and Slightly Stoopid mainstream since most of my friends up north and apparently some on here haven't heard of them.

Anything from across the pond...in the 70s, that is.
