so i just submited my online application and paid my fee, but i'm not sure what all i need to mail in. just a transcript? if anyone has applied already or in previous years and knows the drill please clue me in lol

The required documents you need to send in separately are the high school transcript with class rank and your SAT/ACT scores. Optional but highly recommended extra documents are 2 letters of recommendations. There should have been a link to printing the Document submission forms when you completed your application at ApplyTexas. You print these out, fill them out and give them to your guidance counselor for the transcript and your teachers (or whoever you are using) for the letters of recommendation to mail in with those documents to the Office of Admissions. You probably already requested that your SAT/ACT test scores be sent directly to A&M when you registered to take the test. If not, go back to the registration site and do so.

In a couple of weeks of submission, A&M will send you a UIN (Universtiy Identification Number) as a result of submitting your application. With that you can register on the AIS (Applicant Information System) web site. (Don't you just love all these acronyms!) There, you can check the status of your application and whether they have received and processed all of your required documents. Details of how to do this will be on the letter you receive from A&M.
