I’m wondering what SAT score Cooper Union is looking for in an Engineering applicant. Due to the change in the SAT to a new 1600 scale, I’m not sure how to compare the school’s old admission statistics (along the fact that their info confuses me).
I found these statistics on previously admitted classes online:
Those statistics you see for 2014 are based off the 1600 scale. Cooper didn’t factor in the writing score. They are looking for 750 to 800 in math and on the math and science subject tests. There’s a little more wriggle room in the critical reading so the 1500 shown in the 75th percentile may have been an 800 in math and 700 in critical reading.
Demonstrated interest is also a factor, so if you can attend the engineering preview day in the fall and tour the campus on another visit it will help you with the ‘why cooper’ questions on the application.
our experience is that absolutely no consideration is truly given to level of interest at all. I know they claim it is, but our
experience was quite different .
