What should I do

Hello, I’m just writing this because I don’t know where else to go and am hoping someone can help me out with my options when it comes to this school.

I’m an community college (MCC) student who as of now has over 30 credits. Before this semester I was sitting at a 2.9 gpa which I was sure I could get to a 3.1 before applying to my transfer school. I was doing well in all my classes, but in the middle of the semester I became incredibly depressed. My grades went from B+'s and A’s to C’s, and I completely stopped doing work in my precalculus class. I dropped (or better worded I thought I had) the math class and saved my grades to getting them to B-'s and an A-. However, my math class, for some reason, still thought I was taking it, and became a big fat F. This dropped my grade to a 2.6.

I’ve contacted the appropriate offices and they told me nothing could be done. I was on great track to getting that 3.0, and hopefully getting into Stony Brook. I don’t know if I’ll even be able to get accepted into any transfer colleges I wanted now (SBU and UB being my main choices). The deadline for admissions is in March, so I won’t even be able to include this next semesters grades there, which would boost my grades (and drop that F).

The 3.0 is a pretty hard minimum here, to be honest. However – if we need to wait for spring grades, we can do that in most cases, because we don’t typically close the fall transfer class until June. (Most years, anyway.) We generally advise students to have a backup plan just in case, but we can wait until we get your spring transcript and go from there.

(Retaking that F will definitely help!)
