What SSAT Score *IS* top 95%???

all those boarding highschools (especially TSAO like Exeter, Andover, Choate, etc.) require from 89 to 95th percentile on the national thing.
but what score is that, briefly?

I just started to study SSATs, yeah, I know it's pretty late. I have to take it in less than a month and I don'k know a thing!!! :D

2000 is appr. 95% i believe.

Here are my scores and their corresponding percentile

Verbal 336 89%
Math 349 95%
Reading 318 86%
Total 1003 94%

You should buy the Kaplan book- they will have the breakdown at the back of it

PR is a good one too.

And no private HS require certain SSAT scores. (I myself got in with a 66 on the verbal, 90 overall). Its just that lower ones need to be offset by other factors.

If you have trouble with SSAT, consider ISEE.

Mathwiz, no offense or anything, I'm just wondering--were you a legacy?

Stupid question... what is the SSAT?

it's basically the entrance exam for high schools that you take.

Oh, ok, thanks :)

Glad that's SOMETHING I don't have to worry about! Thank goodness for public schools :D

is your public school good?

Yes, it's actually an excellent school. *link* if you're interested :)

hmmm... it does look pretty good. how many go to ivys?

Actually, I'm not sure. I was wondering about that... I'm dreaming for Stanford, so I wanted to know how many go there, too. I think I'll email the counselor about that...

I hated the SSAT.
I wish I took the ISEE for a number of reasons... (it's not like I got a bad score or anything--I just hated it)

why didyou hate it? the isee is accepted by a lot of the top schools, including exeter, which is why i took both. the isee is generally better with 4 choices instead of five and no analogies, but they give like NO time to finish the CR... UGGG!! Oh well.

uh the score mus be like 800/2400, top 95%?

if you mean top 5%, then its around 2000-2100

we're talking about SSAT not SAT

yeah many people here are confused with the sat.

This isnt true at all. There is no cut off. And there are a good deal of people who get accepted with lower percentiles. That is their midrange, just so ur not confused.

gdf, where are your dedication pages?

"hmmm... it does look pretty good. how many go to ivys?"

OK, I got the info. Here's the number of students that went to each college from the class of 2005: (not sure how many were in the graduating class, but this year in the entire school we have about 1800)

Brown: 1
Cornell: 3
Harvard: 1
Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, Yale: weren't on the list-- I guess there wasn't anybody
U Penn: 1

So it looks like 6 Ivy-League-ers.

And also:

Stanford: 3
MIT: 1
Carnegie Mellon: 1
Johns Hopkins: 2
